A broad background in building or public facility maintenance and a working knowledge of tasks required to be performed in the move-in, set-up and tear down of an event.  The intent of the Event Set-Up position is to perform the following duties: event set-up, tables, chairs, risers, carpet, traffic management (use of radios) operating fork lifts/high lifts and power jacks.  Vacuum, box removal, trash compacting as schedule requires.  Position reports to the Director of Operations, Event Services Manager or Event Manager on Duty (MOD). 

  • Event Set Up 
    • Extensive walking throughout the facility and facility grounds. 
    • Setting and breakdown of chairs, tables, risers. 
    • Lift moderate to heavy amounts of weight in the form of tables, chairs, stanchions, staging and step units, dance floor panels and exhibition materials. 
    • Push equipment carts, door panels and staging/step units as required. 
    • Maintain an irregular work schedule as required by the Director of Operations for the servicing of scheduled events and routine assignments within the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. 
    • Such other duties, functions, special projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Operations, Event Services Manager or Event Manager on Duty. 
    • Interface with all building personnel as well as clients, customers and exhibitors. 
    • Comply with all OSHA regulations and requirements for the Department. 

  •  Custodial 
    • Cleaning composition floors, carpet, glass, and stainless steel, painted surfaces, porcelain, chromed surfaces, plastic surfaces, mirrors, quarry tile, concrete and woodwork. 
    • Policing meeting rooms, public areas and restroom areas. (Restrooms on an as needed basis) 
    • Use and maintenance of both small and large vacuum cleaners. 
    • Familiar with causes of breakdown on equipment and the ability to do light repairs. 
    • Use of large floor machine for cleaning concrete surfaces. 
    • Walking, standing, sitting. Stooping and lifting objects as required. 

  •  Grounds Maintenance 
    • Implementation of basic cleaning methods (Sweeping and removing trash, dirt, water and ice as required) in the maintenance of exterior grounds and interior areas. 
    • Completion of tasks assigned in compliance with basic safety guidelines. 
    • Perform grounds maintenance during inclement weather as required. 
    • Completion of tasks and daily assignments as assigned in a cooperative manner. 
As an employee of the Northern Kentucky Convention Center, the Event Set-Up Worker shall perform day-to-day assignments and routines in a cooperative manner.  The Event Set-Up Worker shall interact with other employees within guidelines established by the Northern Kentucky Convention Center.  The Event Set-Up Worker shall follow instructions as required and be knowledgeable of policies regarding safety as to working procedures and conditions upon the premises of the Northern Kentucky Convention Center.  As a highly visible employee, the Event Set-Up Worker shall maintain the public image of the Northern Kentucky Convention Center.

  • Ability to perform manual tasks requiring physical strength and perform reasonably heavy labor.
  • Ability to operate heavy mechanized equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions accurately.
  • Related training and experience gained which offers a further understanding of set-up, custodial, house and grounds keeping techniques is desirable.
  • Flexible schedule/hours – days/nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
