Job Opening: Part-Time Studio Operations Technician

Job Description:
Lax Sports Network is accepting resumes for a part-time Studio Operations Technician. Lax Sports Network is the preeminent multi-platform, on-demand video destination for lacrosse sports fans. With thousands of hours of original programming scheduled each year, Lax Sports Network features professional, collegiate and amateur lacrosse events; daily studio programming; breaking news and information and more.

The Studio Operations Technician is expected to excel in a variety of roles during production of live and recorded studio programs. The successful candidate works closely with the TD/Director, members of the production team and is effective when communicating with on-air talent. IT and Master Control background & knowledge strongly preferred. Experience with live audio mixing and/or jib operation a plus. Candidates are always ready to adjust to on the fly changes, multi-tasking and a deadline driven environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Mix audio for live studio productions
  • Operate Jib and studio cameras as assigned, including camera charting and shading
  • Maintain operations equipment through both preventative maintenance and repair. Soldering skills a plus
  • Lead technical pre-production in-studio, including distribution of IFB and microphones to talent, set-up of Skype interviews, and lighting grid set-up
  • Help troubleshoot and fix problems with computers and edit systems
  • Employees accomplish their duties using safe practice in a team environment
  • Must be physically able to lift and carry necessary equipment (up to 75 lbs) and maintain the agility to perform work assignments
  • Familiarity with control room production procedures and equipment
  • Floor Direct and operate switcher for basic functions required

  • 1+ year experience with studio operations
  • IT and Master Control background & knowledge strongly preferred
  • Must be a good communicator
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are necessary
  • Familiarity with control room production procedures and equipment
  • Experience with non-linear editing platforms
  • Familiarity with Ross switchers, Ross XPression, and Avid systems a plus
  • Willing to work long hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
