 Through an exclusive 12-year agreement with the University of Notre Dame, Legends and JMI Sports have established a joint venture business, Notre Dame Global Partnerships, to oversee Notre Dame’s athletics sales, marketing, sponsorship, hospitality, multimedia rights and branding services on a local and national level. It will also include Notre Dame’s national football radio rights. This new partnership will provide unsurpassed ingenuity and service to deliver integrated national and regional corporate partnerships worthy of the Notre Dame brand.


JOB DESCRIPTION

The Vice President, Partnership Development will conceptualize, develop, and secure key corporate marketing partnerships and marketing and digital media partnerships with companies wishing to maximize their relationship with University of Notre Dame Athletics. The Vice President, Partnership Development will lead a team of other sales representatives and will report to the Property President.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead sales and activation efforts of Notre Dame Athletics marketing partnerships and hospitality within guidelines established by the University of Notre Dame
  • Serve as a key member of the executive team, assisting in establishing the office, recruiting and training sales staff, and management of sales staff
  • In collaboration with the Property President, will be responsible for setting marketing partnership objectives, strategies, and specific implementation steps
  • Coordinate with JMI Sports and Legends national and regional sales teams to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of sales process
  • Direct client procurement and account management, developing sales packages and strategies, contract development and implementation
  • Research and identify industries and organizations to solicit for marketing partnership
  • Create conceptual marketing partnership packages that can be bundled with cross-property inventory to maximize exposure and results for sponsors
  • Create detailed financial analysis of marketing partnership deals
  • Develop and maintain relationships with brand decision makers and advertising agencies
  • Secure and conduct sales meetings by leveraging relationships as well as cold calling
  • Negotiate and close marketing partnership deals and work with counsel through contract execution
  • Strategize, develop and create marketing partnership and marketing presentation templates and programs for sales team
  • Oversee industry and competitive analysis to highlight trends and competitive dynamics
  • Conceptualize and develop new revenue streams for the university

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years senior-level, successful and creative marketing partnership sales experience
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a sales team, including developing sales strategies, managing performance, incorporating ongoing education, and providing measurable results
  • Must have relationships with senior level marketing executives with national/regional brands
  • Knowledge of marketing partnership programs, including content development and distribution for radio, television, websites, plus digital and social media
  • Understanding of marketing partnership sales, event marketing and activation
  • Understanding of media/advertising buys
  • Excellence in pitching, negotiating and closing six and seven figure marketing partnership deals
  • Ability to communicate value of marketing partnership vs. pure media as a marketing solution
  • Ability to develop creative proposals that meet and exceed potential partners’ needs
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships at all levels within a major university
  • Ability to excel in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to quickly earn and maintain trust
  • Ability to develop strong peer level relationships and work in a team environment
  • Expertise in identifying opportunities, developing strategies and negotiating creative solutions
  • Multi-task in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to work solo or within a team atmosphere
  • Able to simultaneously manage a high level of detail across multiple projects
  • Graduate degree in business, marketing or related field preferred
