Facility Operations/Event Staff: Custodial/Housekeeping

The Building Services Associate is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment throughout various areas of the Key Bank Center.  Based on your shift assignment, Building Services Associates will be responsible for a variety of tasks relating to the set-up, take-down, cleaning, and resetting of the Key Bank arena for Sabres home games and various special events throughout the year.


  • Perform a variety of cleaning functions, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
  • Set up, move, and remove chairs, risers, staging, sports equipment, tables, supplies, and other necessary equipment depending on event specifications.
  • Load and unload supplies and equipment as needed for use.
  • Monitor and refill lavatory and rest area supplies as needed.
  • Changes trash receptacles and removes trash from premises.
  • Properly handle tools and return tools to appropriate storage areas when tasks are completed.
  • Ensures proper use and storage of cleaning chemical agents and supplies. 
  • Conducts building inspections to verify task lists have been completed.
  • Communicate openly and frequently with Supervisors throughout assigned shift.
  • Maintains a professional attitude and appearance at all times.


Special Requirements depending on Shift Assignment:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in an upright standing position for long periods of time
  • Ability to work in different environmental working conditions (e.g. heat, cold, wind, rain)
  • Walk and climb stairs.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to quickly and easily navigate the property/building as required to meet the job functions.
  • Ability to work extended/flexible hours and weekends based on project requirement.
  • Climb ladders and work at heights above ground level (maximum 3 ft).
  • Ability to interact effectively with management and peers
