The Financial Accountant is responsible for performing and managing varied accounting functions for the Buffalo Bills. Functions include but are not limited to: general ledger account reconciliations, recording and posting entries in the financial system, assisting with the preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and established Club polices, and perform ad-hoc accounting projects as requested by management.

  • General accounting functions relating to all month-end close, reconciliations, financial accuracy & financial reporting 
  • Prepares monthly bank reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, and general accounting
  • Participates in month-end process and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Provides asset and depreciation management
  • Generates monthly reports as needed
  • Assists with adherence and compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Assist with year-end financial audit and league reporting
  • Assess current practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements
  • Assist with the company-wide budgetary planning
  • Prepare and analyze departmental financial statements
  • Distribute monthly P&L statements to department managers
  • Provide A/R analysis and assist with collections
  • Support financial planning and analysis projects
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested
  • Other duties as assigned  

  • The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance
  • 2-3 years accounting
  • CPA license a plus
  • Prior experience should include general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, interaction with external auditors or participation on external audit engagements
  • Familiarity with accounting/financial software
  • Solid understanding of general accounting principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate financial data and effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Strong administrative and organization skills with attention to detail and follow-up required
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of management demonstrating a strong balance of technical and interpersonal skills
