Position Summary:
The Marketing Director is responsible for planning, developing, managing, and implementing campaigns for all internal business departments. Key focus areas include brand strategy development, marketing campaigns (kit launches, season start, playoffs, etc.), ticketing campaigns (revenue-driving campaigns for Single Game, Groups, and Full Season Tickets), and idea generation for Corporate Partners. This leader will serve as the point person for all cross-functional initiatives by aligning teams (Marketing, Digital, Game Presentation, Creative Services, Events, Fan Engagement) and ultimately developing these programs' cross-functional plan and execution.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee and partner with cross functional teams to ensure that all sales and/or marketing collaterals align with approved branding guidelines and strategy. Ensure compliance with all brand guidelines through internal departments and all external facing material. Oversee and delegate all LA Galaxy and Dignity Health Sports Park graphic requests, workload, promotional item vendors and printing companies to keep organized and in line with event needs/ deadlines.
  • Manage LA Galaxy radio and LA Galaxy II broadcasts including the hiring of talent, the timing of advertising spots and the implementation of sponsorship obligations. Oversee all in-game advertising during Galaxy and Dignity Health Sports Park events, including videoboard, LED Boards and PA reads to meet the LA Galaxy marketing guidelines and sponsorship obligations to support marketing and ticketing campaigns.
  • Develop marketing plan and staff to support all non-Galaxy events at Dignity Health Sports Park. These duties may include cross-promotion between Galaxy and Dignity Health Sports Park events.
  • Develop advertising and promotional campaigns including grassroots events, community events, fan/supporter events, and mascot appearances to engage the Galaxy fanbase and reach potential new Galaxy fans.
  • Collaborate with the Ticketing and Global Partnerships departments to build and execute marketing campaigns that directly impact revenue for Corporate Partners, Single Game tickets, Group tickets, and Full Season tickets. Align the promotional calendar with Ticketing regarding themed nights, promotional offers, and fan giveaways.
  • Communicate necessary marketing promotion and media campaign information with the various internal stakeholders to ensure campaigns are executed correctly while collaborating with the Chief Marketing Officer to create/ update brand guidelines and ensure the vendors (internal/external) remain within guidelines on any advertisements or partnerships pertaining to the LA Galaxy.
  • Collect, analyze and interpret campaign performance data to make data-driven optimizations for current and future campaigns.
  • Manage the Marketing department’s budget, including advertising, paid media, game promotions, consumer products/retail, and events.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Degree (4-year) Marketing, communications, advertising or a related field
  • 6-8 years Related work experience
  • Deep knowledge of brand strategy, brand positioning, brand values, brand personality and brand identity development
  • Proven ability to lead large, multi-disciplined marketing campaigns including advertising, digital, experiential and retail.
  • Sports experience not required; however, experience must be related at minimum to a “lifestyle/culture brand” relevant to 18-34 year old's
  • Proven experience in leading large brand strategy insights projects whose findings are translated into brand positioning and brand identity
  • In-house marketing or agency experience with a proven track-record of executing comprehensive plans at/under budget that have produced measurable results
  • Knowledge of media buying/planning including television, radio, print and out of home
  • Proven event/experiential marketer who knows how to execute high impact events that create buzz and earned media
  • Ability to analyze campaign components, provide ROI and KPIs
  • Strong sense of project ownership and dedication to delivering outstanding results
  • Stays current with marketing, digital, social, and experimental industry trends.
