We are seeking a candidate passionate about problem solving and getting into the weeds.  Having an interest in sports, live events, or motorsports will certainly add to job satisfaction, but is not required.  The Business Solutions team supports and develops many high-profile websites and critical internal applications.  The role of the Software Engineer (SCORE Platform) includes improving, modernizing, paying down technical debt, and planning for future commercialization of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s internal home-grown ticketing platform. The hybrid cloud platform is currently composed of SQL databases, Rest APIs, batch jobs, and multiple user interfaces.  This IT position will work in coordination with the Ticketing, Marketing, Accounting, Credentials and Premium Services departments.
The perfect person will define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain new and existing software applications in support of ticket, credential, and parking sales. This includes coding, testing, and analyzing software programs and applications.  The applicant needs to be comfortable understanding business challenges and proposing solutions to those challenges.  A good candidate has experience with C#, .Net, and e-commerce or payment processing.  A genuine interest in technology and desire to continually learn more is required.

  • Responsible for participating in agile ceremonies including daily scrums, sprint planning, etc.
  • Responsible for tracking, monitoring, planning, and forecasting tasks and projects.
  • Responsible for managing and meeting customer expectations.
  • Create and maintain efficient, productive, and scalable applications and solutions for business processes
  • Identify broken, outdated, and inefficient business processes
  • Developer support of all aspects of the ticketing operation including: online and in-person sales, fulfillment, digital ticketing, access control, liability waiver execution, and credential processes
  • Make recommendations and communicate trade-offs and risks
  • Responsible for supporting all phases of the software development life cycle.  Including testing and production support.
  • Break / Fix and problem resolution of existing SCORE Platform
  • Writing secure code and always being focused on security implications and risks of new applications
  • Working extended hours during the Month of May, on call support during some event weekends
  • Training and self-taught skills enhancement

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
  • Bachelor of Science degree from accredited college/university in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Technology, or similar program
  • 4+ years of experience in professional software development position
  • Proficient in .Net, database, and object-oriented development
  • MS SQL Server, C#, IIS, Web development, Entity Framework / ORM
  • Exposure to microservices and message queues preferred
  • Experience with Agile software development
  • Software cloud architecture knowledge, including Microsoft Azure experience
  • Experience working with multiple custom client/server applications in Windows or implementing multiple complex business systems
  • Familiar with Azure DevOps, preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, organization skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to adjust and set priorities to meet deadlines and needs of clients

  • Experience with Windows Desktop development and Android development would be a great, but not required
Travel/Work Hours
  • No regular travel required; Flexibility and adaptability are key skills needed for this role.  This position has some flexibility to work from home.
