Facility Operations/Event Staff: Golf Course Management
The duration of this position is August-December 2019 with possible continuation of employment in Spring 2020. Be a part of a team that maintains one of the most unique golf courses in the world. Brickyard Crossing is located on the property of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with 4 holes inside of the race track. Under the Golf Course Superintendent’s supervision, the employee will participate in the overall maintenance of the golf course.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:       
  • Work in a team-oriented environment to complete daily maintenance tasks.
  • Maintains Brickyard Crossing Golf Course and all adjacent property.
  • Mows, trims, and edge turf around golf course greens and bunkers and other property utilizing hand mowers or power-driven lawn mowers, weed trimmers and brush cutters.
  • Install grass, trees, shrubs, or flowers according to instructions and planned design of landscaped area.
  • Maintain landscaping and flower beds by watering, weeding, and mulching as needed.
  • Keep golf course grounds clean a free of litter or debris
  • Enthusiasm for and commitment to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and it’s Vision, Mission and Values.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Education:
  • High school graduate, GED or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience:
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must exhibit a positive attitude.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to function as part of a team and understand and follow instructions.
  • Effective communication skills.

FULL-TIME DAY SHIFT WORK HOURS:
Monday – Friday 6:00 AM-2:30 PM plus one four-hour weekend shift per week. Flexible schedules can be made for employees to accommodate school schedules and other needs. Please note the duration of this position is August-December 2019 with possible continuation of employment in Spring 2020.

PART-TIME MORNING SHIFT WORK HOURS:
All shifts will be from 6:00 AM – till approximately 9:30 AM. Employees are expected to either work Monday – Friday or work at least 2 morning shifts throughout the week plus one shift on the weekend. Flexible and accommodating schedules can be made.Please note the duration of this position is August-December 2019 with possible continuation of employment in Spring 2020. The part-time hours position is also not generally expected to perform the more physically demanding tasks such as using string trimmers, push mowers, and greens mower.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position involves walking or standing for long periods of time throughout the day. The position requires lifting up to 50 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently work outdoors, which requires physical strength and stamina to endure extreme heat, cold, rain and other conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud, due to professional racing events and mowing equipment.
