Position Overview:
The MMA Manager will deliver MMA skills training, of every fight style, to the Shanghai Performance Institute Academy fighters, as well as contracted UFC fighters and world-class athletes from other sports. This role works with the UFC Performance Institute MMA coaching staff to develop an inclusive overall MMA curriculum and works with other staff members in an interdisciplinary fashion to ensure optimal delivery of services to athletes.

Please note this position is based at the UFC Performance Institute Shanghai, 1053 Wanrong Road (万荣路1053号).

Essential Functions:
  • Facilitates MMA practices of every type for Academy athletes, UFC athletes and other athletes training at the UFC Performance Institute.
  • Works with Chinese coaches and translators from respective gyms to ensure athletes’ understanding of training principles.
  • Provides corner support to athletes in MMA fights.
  • Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to identify best practices for delivering MMA training sessions. 
  • Travels to outside MMA gyms to deliver clinics and seminars.
  • Contribute to the Performance Institute’s overall MMA curriculum.
  • Holds pads for, and drill with athletes of all sizes and backgrounds.
  • Provide meaningful contributions to UFC PI initiatives such as research projects, educational platforms and Journals. 
  • Assist with other tasks, projects, and responsibilities as assigned.
     Skills & Experience: 
  • At least five years’ experience coaching athletes that compete professionally in MMA or other combat sports.
  • Experience in providing corner support in a high-level MMA competitions or other combat sports competitions. 
  • Minimum one-year experience as head or lead coach.
  • Experience working effectively with athletes and coaches. 
  • Professional MMA, striking, grappling or other combat sports experience is a plus. 
  • Experience working in an interdisciplinary team is a plus.
