The North Platte Plainsmen are a second-year collegiate wood bat team located in North Platte, Nebraska. Like many similar entities, we are a family entertainment venue and valuable community marketing tool, wrapped around a baseball team. We put on a show every night and pride ourselves on being a valuable “quality of life” piece in a rapidly-growing area of Central Nebraska. 
 
This position is ideal for a successful minor league sports sales professional looking to take the next step in his or her career.  
 
The Director of Sales is the leader of the Sales Department and will build new business with our second-year team, expanding on the successes of the 2022 season. The Director of Sales will be the main source of sales efforts while overseeing associated staff during the off-season as well as interns during the summer season.
 
 
It is the Director’s responsibility to know not only know the inventory of available marketing items but to create and promote new inventory to meet client and team needs. The Director of Sales will work hand-in-hand with team management regarding promotions, special nights and extra events.
 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Renew existing customers and develop new contacts 
  • Create, develop and sell new sources of inventory
  • Develop and implement sales strategies
  • Manage all programs for group and party deck sales
  • Prepare weekly sales reports
  • Keeping up-to-date on successful sales techniques

Required Experience:
The Director of Sales should have 1-2 years of previous sponsorship and ticket sales experience in an established or start-up sports entity with a community-based theme. Other experience requirements include:
  • Building relationships with vendors, advertisers and customers
  • A track record with non-traditional advertising and "guerrilla" marketing activity
  • Development of brand building strategies
  • Cold-calling and telephone sales techniques

Compensation is salary and commission-based and negotiable depending on experience. At this time we are unable to offer health insurance as compensation.
