The United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA), headquartered in Brevard County, Florida is the world’s largest multi-sport athletic organization. Founded in 1968, it has grown to over 4 million participants competing in 13 nationally sanctioned sports. USSSA has owned and operated the USSSA Pride, a professional fastpitch team, since 2009. The USSSA Pride will play an exhibition schedule in 2020 including home games at USSSA Space Coast Complex during USSSA Fastpitch World Series events.
Time Period : The Summer Internship will span from May 1st until August 10th.
Professional Requirements: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a relevant major, such as Sports Management, Sports Marketing, Recreation & Parks Management, etc. A candidate that has recently graduated in these related fields and seeking experience may also be selected.
Responsibilities:
This internship position will provide the administration and operational management of the USSSA Pride during the 2021 Summer Season. Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Assist the USSSA National Fastpitch Team with the coordination of Pride player appearances at USSSA Fastpitch events at Space Coast Complex;
- Work with the USSSA Media department on Pride player photo shoots, media day, interviews, and additional media requests in season;
- Coordinate Pride appearances locally within Brevard County as well as events at designated locations during game series outside of Brevard County, FL;
- Manage the administrative needs of all USSSA Pride Summer Instructional clinics including communication with participants, coordination with facilities, equipment needs, and management of registration needs and other duties as needed for camps.
- Manage game day operations for all home games at USSSA Space Coast Complex including game timelines and protocols, National Anthem singers, First Pitch, PA scripts, distribution of game day handouts, and other duties as needed on game day;
- Work with the Space Coast Complex Events Team to coordinate the practice and game scheduling needs with the Pride and opponents;
- Communicate with third party host sites on the operational needs for games and practices at visiting venues.
