TrackTown Events, LLC (TrackTown) is the home to track & field athletes across the world. A non-profit organization based in Eugene, Oregon, TrackTown is committed to setting a standard of excellence in track & field by hosting premier events, creating a supportive environment for elite athletic performances, being a leader in sustainable event management, and inspiring the next generation of athletes and fans. 
 
TrackTown was responsible for organizing the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships, the 2015 and 2022 USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships, the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland, and the 2016 and 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. In partnership with USA Track & Field, the organization brought the 2022 World Athletics Championships to the United States for the first time. TrackTown delivers the Diamond League’s recurring Prefontaine Classic, recognized as one of the world’s best track & field meets.
 
Position overview:
The Social Media Manager will work directly with the Sr. Director of Digital Innovation and Communications on crafting and executing content and coverage plans for TrackTown’s owned channels and events. This person will help bring marketing campaigns and strategies to life on social media through content ideation, execution, and reporting. This position will primarily be focused on TrackTown’s owned social media channels, and will also work closely with the Director of Brand Marketing on web and email content ideation, ensuring TrackTown’s online voice is consistent and engaging.
 
This position has the unique opportunity to develop and implement content strategy around some of the world’s most premier track & field meets.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Execute year-round social media strategy for TrackTown’s owned social media channels that complements Sr. Director of Digital Innovation and Communications’ department objectives
  • Manage TrackTown’s owned social media channels, including, but not limited to, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok
  • Manage TrackTown’s social media content calendar, ensuring content and amplification/responses align with both internet culture and the TrackTown brand
  • Ensure partner content requirements are fulfilled to (or beyond) contract specification
  • Ideate digital-first content, series, and coverage plans
  • Execute on or assist in digital-first content creation, when applicable
  • Assist the Sr. Director of Digital Innovation and Communications with management of event-based contracted social media professionals
  • Work closely with contracted photo and video professionals to execute on digital-first content
  • Work with the Director of Brand Marketing and Engagement to execute social media aspects of larger brand, retail, and ticketing campaigns
  • Manage the Digital Coordinator, providing mentorship in the areas of community management, social media management, and content ideation and production
 
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two years experience in social media management and/or content creation on behalf of a brand, sports industry preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with the sport of track & field
  • Knowledgeable in Adobe Photoshop and video editing software
  • Knowledgeable in social media metrics and reporting

  • Ability to work extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, including coverage of all TrackTown events as required
  • Be located primarily in Eugene, Oregon (moderate flexible scheduling allowed outside of event season. Event season typically runs May–July but is subject to change based on portfolio of events.)
