Job Title: General Manager
League: Northwoods League
Location: Kokomo, IN
Experience Required: Minimum 5 years of experience managing a sports team, preferably within Summer Collegiate or Minor League baseball
Position Overview:
The General Manager is responsible for management of all sales revenue lines for the team. The GM is accountable for developing new revenue streams while ensuring the renewal and maintenance of current revenue streams remain consistent on a yearly basis. Most importantly, the GM is the leader of the team and staff and is expected to create an environment of excellence for his or her internal staff and the team’s patrons/customers.
There are five main revenue components (listed below) that determine the financial success of the operations.  The General Manager’s main responsibility is to oversee all revenue streams by utilizing the human and capital resources to achieve them:
  • Ticket Sales
  • Sponsorships
  • Stadium Events and Rentals
  • Food and Beverage
  • Merchandising

  • Ability to develop and manage an operating budget
  • Superior communication skills and exceptional customer service
  • Strong sales skills and the ability to lead a sales & customer service organization
  • Manage a full-time staff, including hiring, training and professional development of existing and incoming staff members
  • Lead sales and marketing efforts for all ticket sales, group sales, sponsorships, promotions and merchandise
  • Develop relationships within the community with key members, constituents, and business leaders
  • Manage all game day operations, including security, guest services, game entertainment, and promotions
  • Assist in the host family selection, transportation, and placement of players into local Kokomo homes
  • Act as the primary liaison and communicate effectively with ownership and the league office
  • Understand company goals and continue to build the business
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience with operations and managing a sports team, preferably within Summer Collegiate or Minor League baseball
  • Superior communication skills; collaborative with strong interpersonal skills
  • Candidates must have a proven track record of increasing sales
  • Experience creatively selling marketing opportunities to businesses
  • Candidates shall be organized, professional, efficient and effective communicator, positive and forward-thinking, and a strong results-oriented leader
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems
  • Familiarity with The Ultimate Toolkit
  • Willingness to work long hours, including holidays and weekends

About The Opportunity:
ROC Ventures owns a collection of brands in the sports, entertainment, and real estate sectors. These include the Kokomo Jackrabbits (Northwoods League), the Milwaukee Wave (MASL), the Milwaukee Milkmen (American Association), The Rock Sports Complex in Franklin, Wisconsin and the Ballpark Commons development which is a mixed used entertainment district.

While we have yet to win a championship in Kokomo, Indiana, we have a fan base and a facility that are second to none.  

Kokomo Municipal stadium was voted the best summer collegiate ballpark in America two consecutive years in 2015 and 2016.  “Kokomo Jackrabbits fans love their team and love their ballpark,” said Kevin Reichard, Ballpark Digest publisher. “It’s hard to repeat as a fan favorite, but the vote shows how much the community has embraced the Jackrabbits and loves their ballpark.”
