Event Management: Event Operations/Management
Job Summary
The Director of Events and Programs will oversee the Events and Programs Department.  The successful candidate will manage department staff and work with all other department to ensure that the Maryland SoccerPlex and Adventist HealthCare Fieldhouse remains a leading operator of fan entertainment, guest experience, and promoter of youth, amateur, and professional sports and events in the country.  The Director of Events and Programs will manage all tournaments, events, and programs owned and operated by the company.  The Director of Events and Programs will work with all outside user groups that are operating events and tournaments at the SoccerPlex and Adventist HealthCare Fieldhouse.  The Director will also be the Adult Soccer League Manager. 

Responsibilities
Internal Events
:
  • Plan tournaments and events from start to finish, including budgeting, marketing, scheduling, operations, and staffing.
  • Act as Tournament Director for Mid-Atlantic Cup, Discovery Cup and various indoor soccer Tournaments
  • Develop Project Management Plans, Communication Plans, and Risk Management Plans for assigned events in conjunction with Event Manager
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for the ordering, delivery, and storage of event supplies for AHCF and MD SoccerPlex
  • Develop marketing strategy with Marketing Department for all events
  • Develop and monitor budgets for internal events
  • Coordinate with referee associations for all sports tournaments

External Events
  • Solicit new events and secure existing events for future years that maximize revenue
  • Draft and manage contracts for external event user groups
  • Act as primary point of contact for external user groups hosting events and tournaments at the SoccerPlex and Adventist HealthCare Fieldhouse
  • Provide planning support to external user groups in the development of event operations plans
  • Provide onsite supervision during external events
  • Coordinate with MNCPPC staff and other tenants of the South Germantown Recreation Park on event scheduling, traffic and safety issues, and coordination of staffing and resources

Camp and Program Management
  • Oversee all non-soccer camps, clinics and programs
  • Development of new non-soccer, camps, clinics, and programs
  • Develop and monitor budget for all non-soccer camps, clinics and programs
  • Maintain inventory of camp assets including all equipment, supplies, uniforms, and other materials
  • Develop partnerships with outside groups to provide enhanced program opportunities for internal camps
  • Act as primary point of contact for external user groups hosting camps and/or programs at the SoccerPlex and Adventist HealthCare Fieldhouse
  • Draft and manage contracts for external event user groups hosting camps and/or programs at the SoccerPlex and Adventist HealthCare Fieldhouse

Adult League Manager
  • Manage all aspects of the Adult Soccer League
  • Recruit and retain teams within the existing leagues
  • Develop all schedules for leagues
  • Maintain scores and standings
  • Order uniforms, awards, and other supplies
  • Manage Adult League Supervisors
  • Handle all disciplinary issues within the leagues.

Staff Management:
  • Manage, train, and supervise Event Manager(s) and Camp and Program Manager
  • Recruit, train, and supervise event staff
  • Develop, implement, and improve a customer service program for all event staff
  • Promote a customer service focused, friendly, and professional atmosphere at AHCF and MD SoccerPlex

Administration
  • Assist the Director of Operations with facility scheduling management
  • Daily communications with AHCF and SoccerPlex staff regarding activities, staffing, work assignments, and special instructions.
  • Maintain event staff assignments for assigned events
  • Maintain budgets for assigned events
  • Contract Management
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Extensive knowledge about youth sports and particularly the soccer community in the United States 
  • Previous tournament and/or event director experience
  • Prior budgeting experience
  • Superior oral and written communications skills
  • Effective organizational skills for managing multiple tasks 
  • Experience managing staff
  • Working knowledge about Microsoft Office Suite, Registration and Scheduling Software (currently LeagueApps and GotSport)

Preferred Skills and Qualities
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and best practices for procurement
  • Knowledge of facility scheduling software
  • Positive attitude and personality
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, self-starter, and highly motivated
  • Fluency in Spanish

Additional Requirements
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to work weekends, nights and irregular hours as needed
  • Ability to work in varying climates including extreme cold and heat
  • Ability to work in varying physical positions including standing, kneeling, seated, at height and the use of assistance equipment such ladders, lifts, and motor vehicles
  • Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record
  • Reliable transportation
  • Employment contingent upon successful completion of a background check and proof of COVID vaccination.

Additional Notes
  • Exempt Salaried Position  $70,000-$80,000/yr plus benefits
