About Black Bear Sports Group:
Black Bear Sports Group, Inc. (“BBSG”) is a privately held company formed in 2015 that seeks investments in sports and entertainment facilities and youth sports teams and events.  Our arenas are clean and professionally managed, and offer world class recreational offerings.

  • Ice arenas in metropolitan areas with compelling demographics
  • Markets with a National Hockey League club presence
  • Arenas with an existing Tier I or Tier II youth hockey presence​

​We have the ability to acquire healthy and stable arenas, but also to turn around under-managed or under-performing facilities as well.

About the Position: 
The Operations Associate must have at least two years of work experience and be extremely proficient in Excel and a quick learner of registration and scheduling software.

The Operations Associate is responsible for supporting the business operations of the company’s ice rink and hockey franchise portfolio. The Ops Associate supports the transition of new acquisitions into the company and supports various departments including Finance, Human Resources, Legal, and Systems (POS, scheduling, payroll, etc.).  The position is responsible for overseeing and executing implementation of Black Bear’s standard operating procedures and systems across the portfolio. The Operations Associate works out of the corporate office in downtown Bethesda, MD, and reports directly to the Vice President of Black Bear Sports Group.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the transition of newly acquired properties to conform with Black Bear’s standard operating procedures and systems
  • Support portfolio operations at the ice rink and team level
  • Work directly with rink and team personnel to solve problems
  • Identify inefficiencies and savings opportunities and perform analysis on vendors
  • Manage and oversee operations-related projects across the portfolio
  • Support the CFO, Financial Controller, General Counsel and other management

Education Requirements:
  •  Minimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree 
 
 Position Knowledge/Skills & Abilities Requirements:
  • At least two years of experience in an operations, project management or logistics based position
  • Must be extremely proficient in Excel and Microsoft office and a quick learner in cloud-based systems such as google suite and WordPress
  • Ability to implement a process and project-manage independently; attention to detail and deadlines is required
  • Knowledge of hockey / ice sports is a plus
  • Strong communication skills, particularly oral communication (ability to communicate by telephone) 
  • Anticipates and effectively handles change; demonstrates willingness to try new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.
