In sports, a dynasty is a team or individual that dominates their sport or league for an extended length of time. Over the last 25 years, The Harris County – Houston Sports Authority (HCHSA) has served as the sports marketing agency for the city of Houston and Harris County and has dominated the competition with the hardware to prove it. HCHSA is responsible for bidding on and attracting new sports events to the Houston area, as well as overseeing the marketing and operations of those events. These events include NCAA Final Fours, NCAA College Football Playoffs, CONCACAF Gold Cup, FIFA World Cup Committee, MLB and NBA All-Star Games, ITTF World Table Tennis Championships and the annual National Battle of the Bands. The Harris County – Houston Sports Authority is seeking students looking to excel in the sports industry. Our Volunteer Operations Interns have an opportunity to coordinate, manage, and engage current and potential volunteers for the city's top sporting events. 

  • Represent HCHSA during assigned events and functions as needed 
  • Volunteer recruitment and outreach
  • Run and analyze reports in the volunteer system
  • Maintain volunteer inquiries and detailed records within online systems 
  • Initiate group involvement by recruiting, assisting with registration, and answering program related questions
  • On-site event support with operations team to include managing volunteers, set-up, & tear-down
  • Strategize with marketing department on volunteer recruitment and volunteer social media content
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Eligible candidates must be enrolled as a full-time college/university student and must receive academic credit for this internship
  • Applicant must be available for a minimum of 35 hours per week
  • During event dates, must be available to work long hours including holidays, weekends, and evenings if necessary
  • Lift up to 45 pounds repeatedly, work outdoors and stand for long periods of time
  • Valid driver’s license (be prepared to use personal vehicle to travel to and from site all of which will be within Harris County)
Unpaid volunteer position, not eligible for HCHSA employee benefits; academic credit only
