About the Role
The Houston Host Committee is proud to welcome the world as one of the official host cities for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, the largest single-sport event on the planet. With matches at NRG Stadium and fan celebrations across the city, Houston will showcase its diversity, hospitality, and passion for the global game. Volunteers will be at the heart of these efforts, serving as ambassadors for the city and helping bring the excitement of the World Cup to life. The Volunteer Coordinator plays a pivotal role in this mission, orchestrating the deployment, training, and well-being of approximately 5,200 volunteers who will power the tournament in Houston. As a key liaison between FIFA’s Volunteer Community and the Houston Host Committee, this position ensures volunteer excellence across stadium operations, fan festivals, hospitality, and more.

Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Center Oversight

Assist with the management and day-to-day operations of the Volunteer Center, serving as the central hub for recruitment, training, uniform distribution, accreditation, communications, and volunteer support during the tournament period.
Volunteer Program Management
Develop and implement Houston-specific volunteer strategies for engagement, recruitment, training, scheduling, and tournament delivery—ensuring alignment with broader FIFA objectives.
Volunteer Platform Management
Administer the FIFA Volunteer Management Platform to monitor volunteer availability, preferences, role assignments, communication, and attendance.
Volunteer Appreciation & Recognition
Plan and execute initiatives to celebrate volunteer contributions—including uniforms, certificates, exclusive rewards, and recognition events.
Tournament Operations
 Oversee volunteer workforce across Fan Fest (EaDo), hotels, airports, and other venues. Ensure Volunteer Headquarters effectively supports match day logistics, rehearsals, test events, and ceremonial activities. 
 

 Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in venue operations, hospitality, event management, or customer service preferred
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to interact with diverse groups of people.
  • Flexible schedules include weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak periods.
  • Ability to create, engage and foster productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and volunteer groups.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and is a problem solver
  • Positive attitude, team-oriented, and adaptable to dynamic requirements.
  • Proficiency with MS Office; ability to learn and manage volunteer platforms.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred; additional languages a plus.
