POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant General Manager will be responsible for supporting the Executive Chef/General Manager in all aspects of kitchen operations, employee oversight, sales and marketing, strategic planning, and client service. The Assistant General Manager will also be asked to fill in for the Executive Chef/General Manager periodically and resolve operational challenges in real time. This position is a full-time salaried position and operates in a professional kitchen environment in Birmingham, Alabama.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assistant General Manager should have a solid knowledge of food and beverage and a proven track record of FOH staff management within the hotel/restaurant/catering industry
Manage the day-to-day operations of Bruno Hospitality with a direct report of 3 FOH full-time employees and on average approximately 10 hourly employees. FOH and BOH staffing will increase for large events and will require utilizing temporary staffing agencies to fill scheduled positions.
Interview, hire, train, and develop team members in accordance with Bruno Hospitality guidelines
Forecast and adequately schedule employees to meet operational needs
Supervise and evaluate staff on a quarterly basis
Implement and maintain proper industry standard procedures and protocols to achieve excellence
Have superb knowledge and understanding of all County Health Department rules and regulations
Ensures compliance with all security, safety and sanitation standards
Manages Bruno Hospitality operations to include but not limited to inventory control, equipment, equipment maintenance, staffing major event planning, and event management
Ensures that daily walkthroughs are being conducted by FOH staff and working with BOH for every event
Ability to manage by metrics and understand margins and provide consistent updates to executive management
Ensures required reporting is compiled accurately and on a timely basis
Ensures effective and timely distribution of BEO’s to BOH team leader(s)
Develop and implement a strategic growth plan
Always exhibit a high degree of customer service skills and positive attitude with staff and customers
Regularly obtains feedback from clients and guest to improve operations
Be present during client meetings and ability to resolve disputes
Prepare and implement a marketing strategy for outside sales
Keep up with current trends in catering locally, regionally, and nationally
Any other duties as assigned by Executive Chef/General Manager

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 5 years management experience in a fast-paced hotel/restaurant/catering role
Passion for hospitality, food, and client service
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
Must be a problem solver, ready to come up with on-the-spot solutions for problems that may occur in the FOH, be self-motivated, and organized
Computer skills a must and have a basic understanding of Microsoft Office with a focus on Excel. Familiar with inventory and sales systems such as Salesforce, CostGuard and Caterese
Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Ability to work in standing position for long periods of time
Be able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds
