The Columbus River Dragons are proud members of the Federal Prospects Hockey League and call the Columbus Civic Center their home. Owned by Ignite Sports, the River Dragons have seen great success in just three seasons of play, including being named Ignite Cup Champions in 2021. Ignite Sports goal is to create family friendly entertainment and allow our employees a place to shine while gaining experience in a fast paced, fun industry.

Journalism Intern

Responsibilities:

Contribute to the production of written materials for digital platforms
Assist in the creation of game notes and general game day materials
Work with staff to provide live social media coverage during River Dragons games
Monitor important statistics and milestones of River Dragons players
Provide up-to-date statistics and information to media in attendance
Distribute media credentials and other pertinent documents
Assist the staff with company website maintenance, as well as social media platforms
Collaborate with other members of marketing for production of content
Administrative duties: scheduling meetings with members of other departments, tracking hours, planning recording time
Support in-game PR efforts and post-game duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Interest in pursuing future career in professional sports and/or entertainment industry
Self-starter mentality and desire to take initiative
Must be available for all home and away (remotely) games from October 2022 through May 2023
Possess outstanding writing/communication skills
Demonstrate proficient computer skills, including but not limited to, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
Interns must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary
Reliable transportation to and from the Columbus Civic Center, as necessary
