Facility Operations/Event Staff: Facility/Venue Management
JOB SUMMARY:  The Director of Building Operations is responsible for all facility equipment, including the ice plant, air handlers, compressors, HVAC/energy systems, dasher boards, ice resurfacer, ice edgers, overall cleanliness of the inside and outside of the arena, meeting rooms, and offices as well as guiding the facility’s operations, engineering, conversion, and housekeeping departments.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist company officers in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the engineering, conversion, and housekeeping departments. 
  • Develop, monitor, and report on operating costs and make recommendations and implement solutions to budgeting problems
  • Responsible for accurate inventory of building tools, machinery, cleaning supplies and building equipment
  • Develop preventive maintenance schedule for applicable equipment and machinery
  • Advises building operations managers on labor issues including safety, security, employee relations, scheduling, training, and grievances 
  • Know and guarantee all laws, codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules/regulations and emergency procedures are followed
  • Keeps in compliance with and abreast of all OSHA regulations
  • Manages department budget and controls expenses, effectively
  • Develop ice maintenance plan
  • Hire, train, develop, and appraise staff effectively
  • Create an ice resurfacing training program to maintain an adequate supply of back-up operators
  • Maintain accurate records on all maintenance and repairs to arena machinery and equipment
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager regarding the timeframe, needs and storage of all the warranty information, instruction manuals and vendor contacts
  • Arrange for appropriate third-party contractor support
 
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BA/BS in industrial, mechanical or business administration, or a 4yr technical degree in related discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • At least 7 years of experience with increasingly responsible experience in facility operations
  • Employee must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required  
  • Proven knowledge of current First Aid and safety procedures
  • Customer-Service orientation, with a fun, friendly attitude and professional appearance at all times
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, cross-train and learn new skills quickly

 
Physical Demands and Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is exposed to an office environment, with noise levels usually moderate.
