Job Description:
The participant will work under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Public Relations & Digital Media and will be introduced to the public and media relations and marketing activities of a professional sports team.

Candidates should have flexible schedules to be at the arena for practices and morning skates, community events in the evening and all home games. 

Objective/Goals:
The intern will obtain various skills through hands-on experience and will be able to independently perform all gameday media and public relations activities, develop quality written and oral communications with the media and coordinate special promotional and community involvement projects. 

Responsibilities:
  • Research and compile statistical information on the American Hockey League
  • Write press releases and feature stories
  • Perform game day media tasks
  • Assist in the continual upkeep and design of the team’s official website
  • Assist with set-up and follow through of player appearances
  • Assist in managing the team's official social media accounts
  • Provide excellent customer service to the Crunch fan base and general public
  • Work home games and events as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned in the areas of hockey relations, marketing and advertising

Qualifications:
  • Enrolled undergraduate or graduate level student pursuing a degree in sport management, marketing, communications, business or related field
  • Strong creative, organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint along with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience in sports preferred, but not necessary
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends

Time:
  • 10-20 hours per week (negotiable)
  • All 38 Syracuse Crunch home games

Compensation:
This is a non-paid internship. When negotiated with each individual college, credit will be granted. There is parking reimbursement.
