The Lehigh Valley Phantoms are searching for a Media/Public Relations Intern for the 2019-20 season beginning in the fall. This is a full-season opportunity for you to expand your knowledge and experience in a professional sports setting while networking with others in a similar field. This individual must hold a professional relationship with media staff, players, hockey operations staff, visiting broadcasters/media members and fans. In addition, this individual must showcase the ability to be a good writer and will assist in the overall development of the Phantoms brand through the planning, scheduling and execution of a variety of fan-engagement initiatives. A strong interest and knowledge of hockey is strongly encouraged. This is an internship for college credit. The intern will report directly to the Public Relations Manager.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the printing and distribution of game notes and intermission stats
  • Develop relationships with media members and visiting broadcasters
  • Assist in the setup and maintenance of the press area on game days (Press Row / Media Room)
  • Create and distribute gameday credentials
  • Assist in planning, preparation and execution of player, staff and mascot appearances
  • Produce interesting feature stories and player profiles for the Phantoms and AHL websites
  • Help create engaging social media content across a variety of digital media platforms
  • Assist Public Relations Manager and marketing team in other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must have an interest in writing
  • An interest and knowledge of hockey is strongly encouraged
  • Must have a great work ethic and great attitude
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Knowledge of social media and digital platforms
  • Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Professional appearance and attitude
  • Must attend majority of home games. Willing to work nights and weekends
