VICE PRESIDENT, SALES AND MARKETING OPERATIONS
 
 The Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL Philadelphia Flyers is located in the Lehigh Valley of Eastern PA, which is strategically located within a short drive between New York City and Philadelphia.  The Phantoms & PPL Center are entering their 10th year in the Lehigh Valley. The Phantoms are consistently one of the leaders in the American Hockey League in both Attendance and Entertainment.
 
The Phantoms play in the state-of-the-art PPL Center, which is the catalyst to a major $1B+ City Revitalization Project in downtown Allentown.  Allentown is the 3rd largest City in Pennsylvania and has recently been selected by Fortune Magazine as having one of the Up and Coming Downtowns in all of America.  
 
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Vice President, Sales and Marketing Operations (“VP”) position is a key member of the overall executive team for the PPL Center & Lehigh Valley Phantoms.  The VP position reports directly to the Owners of the organization and will be responsible for assisting the Owners in the management of the day-to-day operations of the Phantoms.
 
The VP will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic marketing and sales plan that focuses on revenue and profitability, while growing Fandom through community engagement and game/event presentation plans for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.   This position shall also develop and implement the marketing and sales plans for all concerts, events and restaurants in the PPL Center.
 
 The position demands a charismatic personality that promotes the vision of the PPL Center as being the epicenter for fun and entertainment in the Lehigh Valley.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:   
  • Provide diplomatic leadership, to be a key contributor to bringing forth collaboration between all business departments
  • Develop and execute an Annual Business and Sales Plan and Operating Budget
  • Manage the development of and implementation of all ticket sales categories, including new season tickets, group tickets and individual tickets, as well as retention and renewal efforts
  • Develop and implement all strategic marketing initiatives and advertising campaigns locally and regionally for all PPL Center assets including Phantoms, concerts, events and restaurants, while also directing Phantoms presence at community events & programs 
  • Manage and supervise the entire Marketing & CR team, as well as the Game Presentation & Creative departments
  • A strong desire to help mold & grow the careers of all members of the Phantoms business team with daily & weekly coaching & strategizing
  • Manage all digital and social media strategies and initiatives including email marketing, paid digital & social media, and traditional media
  • Work with Team Ownership, and other members of the front office team, to formulate a plan to harness and enhance the “Fandom” associated with the Phantoms Hockey Team
  • Work closely with Concert and Family Show Promoters to assist in the successful promotion of events
  • Build and Maintain relationships with key partners & vendors
  • Collaborate & promote synergy with ticket sales and sponsorship teams to assist in revenue goals
  • Grow the organization’s Community presence, including grassroots marketing efforts & school assembly programs

 
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business or related field   
  • Minimum 8-10 years of management experience in the Sports and/or Entertainment industry 
  • Experience in developing and executing successful business and sales plans 
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and team development skills
  • Possess a positive attitude
  • Ability to interact with a variety of different departments & senior management team
  • Strong Digital & Social Media skills with experience in creating campaigns aimed at increasing followers, engagement and generates revenue
  • Community-Minded and a believer in Grassroots Marketing efforts
  • Ticket sales or corporate sales experience is preferred
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff
  • Strong organizational, written & verbal communication skills 
  • Strong problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to prioritize a wide variety of tasks 
  • Eager to take on additional duties as needed
