Vinik Sports Group, parent company of the Tampa Bay Lightning, AMALIE Arena and The Identity Tampa Bay, is looking to a hire a full-time Business Development Manager.

An entrepreneurial spirit is key for this position as VSG and The Identity continue to build and develop new business relationships.

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for achieving new business sales goals though prospecting, presenting and closing new partnerships for The Identity Tampa Bay. The Manager will have access to selling assets, including but not limited to: social & digital media, promotional giveaways, experiential opportunities, community platforms, and special events. The role must balance relationship-building with transactional selling as it is critical for the role to cultivate long-term partnerships.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Research and implement industry wide partnership ideas, concepts and platforms
  • Maintain current business relationships and identify potential partners
  • Conduct face-to-face meetings and presentations with prospective partners
  • Work with the VSG design team to create world class presentations that include compelling analytics that storytell The Identity brand
  • Negotiate deals that benefit the partner and The Identity audience
  • Continue to emphasize and support organizational priorities
  • Collaborate with Senior Manager of Business Operations on sales strategy and business planning
  • Build partner recap presentations to drive strong renewals with analytically-driven approach
  • Work with The Identity Tampa Bay content team to execute all partner relationships, contracts and events
  • Collaborate with other departments to ideate new partnership assets and platforms
  • Strive to achieve and exceed company and departmental revenue goals and objectives
  • Develop strong, long-term relationships with both clients and co-workers
  • Perform other duties, as assigned

  • 3-5 years of Business Development  experience in sports, entertainment or media preferred, though sales competency across any media, production, or transactional sales industry will be considered
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and CRM
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent planning skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong presentation skills using storytelling, objectives and KPIs
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Strong analytical skills to storytell with data, especially around partner renewals
  • Self-motivated individual who can work independently and lead by example
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on the changing priorities of the business
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, positive attitude and ability to maintain healthy relationships with co-workers, managers, and executives
  • Commitment to work scheduled event days, evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
