The Southern Professional Hockey League, based in Huntersville, NC, is seeking a paid Communications/Social Media Intern for the 2024-2025 season.
 
Under the direction of the Commissioner, the Student Intern will be responsible for the league's communications and social media postings.

Timeline and hours:
Dates: September 30  through season (end date to be determined)
15 - 18 hours per week in office (Monday-Friday)
Weekends as needed based on need

Previous sports experience is preferred, but not required, for this position.  Rather, applicants must possess a willingness to work, learn, and take on different roles.  This position will be working with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite programs, and Quark XPress desktop publishing software.

Projected Responsibilities
  • Write and distribute league press releases
  • Create, update, and oversee website content
  • Create and distribute weekly/daily game previews/recaps
  • Manage all SPHL social media accounts
  • Create engaging website graphics
  • Post releases to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Monitor team releases and local media for articles and items of interest for website and social media
  • Collaborate with teams for content
  • Collect Player of the Week/Month nominations from teams
  • Write and distribute weekly/monthly/season award releases
  • Perform office administrative duties as needed
 
Skills
  • Strong writer and communicator
  • Strong time management, organizational, and proofreading skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge and experience using Photoshop, Lightroom, and Illustrator (Graphic Design)
