Position Overview:
 
  • Develop and oversee the athletic training program, including injury prevention, injury evaluations, injury management and rehabilitation
  • Provide and maintain a high standard of care regarding injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses
  • Communicate, develop, and support effective working relationships with players, coaches, management, and team physicians
  • Collaborate closely with team physicians and specialists regarding rehabilitation programs for injured players
  • Provide up to date injury reports to necessary team coaches and personnel
  • Maintain complete and up-to-date medical files on players.
  • Assure confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines regarding player medical records
  • Coordinate PPME’s and medical referrals
  • Provide game and practice coverage
  • Ensure emergency readiness for all practices and games
  • Maintain and upkeep of the Athletic Training Room and team facilities, to an exceptional standard befitting a professional athletic organization
  • Oversee and all activities of Assistant Athletic Trainer and medical support staff
  • Supervise and mentor Athletic Training Students/ interns, etc, as applicable
  • Adhere and comply to all policies and procedures as established by the League and organization
  • Assist Equipment staff, as needed
  • Assist in the movement and organizing of all equipment and supplies while traveling with the team
 
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Athletic Training or related field
  • NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC)
  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification
  • Ability to skillfully assess injuries, develop rehabilitation protocols and administer return to play decision making
  • Ability to work long hours with irregular schedules is required.
  • Role requires heavy travel, an frequent evening and weekend work is expected
  • Ability to utilize a computer for extended periods of time, communicate via phone and email with a variety of individuals, lift up to 15 lb., physically navigate to and through SSE facilities during events.
 
Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in administration of rehab exercise and prescription and strength and conditioning methods
  • Experience working full time in ice hockey at the professional level, collegiate or major junior level for 3 or more years
  • advanced knowledge and experience in manual therapy
  • Knowledge of movement screenings and assessments
  • Expertise in Emergency response skills with valid CPR and First Aid
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; outstanding organizational skills
  • Ability to work with other staff members in a collaborative team environment
  • Possess progressive leadership skills, and a comfort in decision-making with a successful track record
  • Have a positive, energetic, and accountable personality
  • Willingness and ability to positively mentor assistant athletic trainer
 
At this time, all SSE employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to working onsite at any SSE facility, unless the individual is able to telework or is otherwise eligible for an exemption in accordance with applicable law.
If on-site services are to be performed, SSE will require you to certify your vaccination status as part of the onboarding process.
