Ford Ice Center - Scott Hamilton Skating Academy – Spring 2024 Internship
The Ford Ice Centers Scott Hamilton Skating Academy is seeking an intern for the 2024 Spring Semester. This intern will assist with various aspects of the sports industry including, but not limited to, planning and execution of skating programming, responding to email inquiries, and maintaining the registration databases. We are looking for an energetic individual who has a positive, can-do attitude and has a strong desire to learn and be part of the Smashville culture. In addition to the duties and objectives listed below, students will receive the opportunity to gain exposure to different departments and entities within the Nashville Predators organization. The Nashville Predators intern program provides an educational, skill-building, hands-on experience for all participants, and a cornerstone of the program is the interns ability to earn college credit for participation in the program.
Candidates MUST receive college credit for the completion of this internship. The Ford Ice Centers do not offer housing or transportation accommodations.
Scott Hamilton Skating Academy Internship Responsibilities:
- Assist with preparation and execution of grassroots skating and sport programming and initiatives, such as Learn to Skate Classed, in-house competitions, summer camps, special events, and various on-ice programming at Ford Ice Center and Bridgestone Arena.
- Respond to general inquiries through email and phone.
- Assist management in administrative duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
- Assist constructing, developing, and executing NHL quality events at Ford Ice Center and Bridgestone Arena such as membership parties, production shows, in-house competitions, performances at Bridgestone and FIC, etc.
- Assist with web-based postings, social media, and photo gallery from department initiatives.
- Maintain registration databases.
- Assist in planning the Scott Hamilton CARES events.
- Shadow Learn to Skate Coordinators to learn how program is produced.
Minimum requirements:
- Spring semester internship duration will be approximately January – May 2024
- All internships are in person; no remote opportunities are available at this time
- Ability to work evenings and weekends within the students designated credit hour requirement when necessary
- All interns must be students at accredited colleges and universities, with the ability to earn academic credit for time spent in an internship position
- Internships are open to Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors receiving college credit
- Internships do not provide compensation, housing, or transportation
- Internships do not guarantee full-time positions with the Predators upon completion
- As a condition of internship, qualified applicant will be subject to a background check, which will at a minimum include a criminal background check and character references and if applicable, may include a driving history check.
- Be able to maintain confidential information.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Ability to work on and off ice at or below freezing temperatures for extended periods of time.
- Ability to demonstrate physical fitness.
- Skating experience is required.
