 The NHL is seeking a Production Manager for 5 Months to manage the day to day production logistics of a full-service video production facility.  Reporting to the VP of Production, the position is responsible for the management of the NHL Studios video production department which is the production arm of the National Hockey League.  Qualified candidate will also manage a team of vendors including, shooters, field camera & audio ops, lighting directors, freelance crews, various production service companies and the locations and procurement of those locations required.  Daily production estimates & budget tracking, production schedules, legal approvals, asset deliverables, all fall under the responsibility of the Production Manager.  This is a temporary, 5 month position. 
The position will:
  • Assist in supervising daily requirements and tracking for all current productions.   
  • Prepare contact information and video production schedule. Distribution of production-related information to producers, management and crew, including: call sheets, budgets, crew contact sheets, maps and location information.   
  • Work with producers to assure production/location needs and processes are well defined and followed.     
  • The ability to be trained and utilize our production software This website tracks all of our production financial information and crew bookings.
  • Communicate with finance on an on-going basis to ensure proper production accounting.
  • Process and code all vendor invoices.
  • Manage, maintain and update daily, NHL Studios Event Documentation budget.
  • Manage all systems and tracking documentation for NHL Studios. Shared excel documents, GMS, staff attend credentials and hotels for our events dept.
  • Complete and fill out forms for onsite needs for tent pole events, catering, office space, furnishings, golf carts, etc.
  • Schedule meetings for production/creative reviews when necessary.    
  • Maintain the database of freelance talent (editors, shooters, lighting directors, audio engineers, production assistants) and agencies in all areas.    
  • Know, understand and enforce company policy and procedures.   
  • Assist in maintaining accurate production accounting records.   
  • Manage contracts and schedules of freelance or outsourced labor.    
  • Inform producers on post-production requirements during pre-production.    
  • Manage storage of sets and props and secure equipment rentals when required.    
  • Optimize and document the entire pre-production workflow.    
  • Produce weekly production status updates.
The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and at least 5 to 7 years of experience in production and/or pre-production related trades.  Experience in booking crews and negotiating contracts are required.  Candidate must have broad understanding of video and audio source equipment, signal formats and standards and experience with standard production industry budgeting and scheduling methods.  Ideal candidate must have strong organizational skills and possess a friendly, can-do attitude with a focus on the client. Successful candidate for the role will have experience with internet applications, Mac, PC and networked environments.  Must demonstrate strong knowledge and experience with internet video production and emerging interactive television technologies.  Must have strong written and verbal communication skills with expert knowledge of common office applications.  Experience in the management of video production personnel is very important.
