SUMMARY
The NHL Studios Director/ Technical Director/ Editor/ Studio Manager is a full-time position within the video production unit of NHL Studios & NHL Original productions which will produce video content for various internal and external clients.  We are looking for a candidate with the demonstrated ability to lead and execute live and recorded studio programming at NHL Studios new production facilities at their new headquarters at 1 Manhattan West.  
 
Qualified individual must possess a thorough knowledge of all aspects of media production including pre-production, production and post-production.  Responsibilities will be varied and include above the line Directing, Producing and studio management.   Below the line work includes the operation of switchers, editors, cameras, audio boards, lighting consoles.  Will need to manage a team of broadcast professionals and schedule the studio and staff required to operate equipment when needed in a collaborative environment.  
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 This position will: 
  • Direct & Technical Direct NHL Studio at 1 Manhattan West and the potential for remote productions when needed.
  • Operate all equipment within the control room and studio or lead a production crew in those tasks. 
  • Switchers, audio boards, editors, cameras, lighting board, video playback, graphics all fall under the operation of and the direction of this very qualified individual.
  • Coordinate broadcast feeds both into and out of the building.
  • Liaise with various NHL departments, outside networks & RSN’s and team representatives on the use and scheduling of the studio and control room space.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive video content strategy for the various monitors throughout the new headquarters and NHL Store with daily updated, relevant and visually compelling content.  
  • Manage a team of Directors, Producers and Editors along with Control room technicians which may include EVS, Graphics, Audio, Camera, Lighting and Production Assistants.
  • Compose and edit scripts and rundowns for productions. 
  • Required to organize shoot schedules and appropriate staff for Studio, Store, Terrace and Plaza productions.
  • Manage talent for shoots and voice-over sessions.
  • Provide detailed updates to management to confirm budgets and timelines are being met
  • Extensive experience working in a Television/Multimedia production environment.
  • Thorough understanding of television production and all that is required for the timely execution of projects, as well as the ability to convey those requirements to others.  
  • Solid client skills a must to service the needs of each client and production.
  • Must be very flexible with working hours, as day and night hours, weekdays and weekends are required as well as being on call for last minute production requirements.  Your workday can extend as production demands change, so schedule flexibility is a key component to the position.
  • Travel may/ will be required.
 
QUALIFICATIONS 
The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 10+ years of experience in studio production and/or post-production related roles.  Direct & Technical Direct and the ability to use and excel at switchers, audio boards, editors, cameras, lighting board, video playback, graphics.  Experience with Adobe Premier Pro Edit and graphics capabilities.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and strong written and verbal communication skills with knowledge of office applications. Must have relevant experience in the management of technical and creative personnel.  
 
Successful candidate must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment overseeing multiple projects.  Attention to detail.  Superior organizational and creative skills.  Ability to manage a production team and keep them motivated, focused and on task.  Must have the proven ability to work closely with clients in a broadcast/post production environment.  Ideal candidate must have extensive knowledge of the NHL, its players, coaches and the history of the NHL.
