OVERVIEW
Position will have cross-functional sales support responsibilities. Primary responsibilities will focus on (a) the development of new activation platforms designed to drive incremental revenue for the League, (b) identifying and developing new sellable assets around existing League initiatives across all facets of the organization and (c) supporting new business and renewal/upsell efforts across new and existing League partners.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Support League sponsorship sales efforts through the following:
- Collaboration with the NHL sales team and new business prospects to create custom solutions and sales materials in support of the sales process.
- Support on-going NHL partner renewal efforts through the collaboration with NHL partners/Partnership Marketing team
- Ability to lead the creative development of custom solutions through the collaboration with key internal and external NHL stakeholders. This specifically includes the ability to creatively solve for partner needs across all aspects of various activation channels (e.g., Linear, Digital, events/grassroots, content development, etc)
- Develop peer level and senior relationships across various groups within the organization including (but not limited to) partnership marketing, SGL, marketing, event programming, consumer products, content develop, social and digital media as a part of on-going creation and development of custom sales opportunities
- Further collaboration with NHL rightsholders (ESPN/Disney and TNT/Bleacher Report) to create and extend partner platforms across custom linear and digital solutions
- Lead sales-focused research needs through the NHL’s third-party research partners leveraging syndicated research sources, custom valuations and cross-channel exposure analysis
QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate degree required
- Preferred minimum of 10+ years experience in sports industry
- Strong understanding of sponsorship sales and the sports business landscape
- Must be a highly motivated and organized individual
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Collaborative and teamwork-focused mentality
- Ability to multi-task in a deadline-driven environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated research acumen to effectively analyze and create storytelling off of custom research outputs
