The Carolina Hurricanes and PNC Arena are hiring a Senior Creative Director to join the organization. This individual will help lead and shape the creative strategy and visual identity, working closely with various leaders across the organization in order to build a vision for how our brands translate to creative content across video, graphic design, animation, print and other forms of visual storytelling. 
 
The Senior Creative Director will lead the creative services team in pushing creative boundaries while supporting organizational needs in order to further strengthen the brand and enhance fan and client engagement. This role will also help support the enhancement of departmental processes. 
 
The ideal candidate will have experience in the sports and entertainment industry, a strong creative background and proven success as a leader of people that can help sculpt, motivate and develop staff while helping drive inspiration to push creative boundaries to elevate the Carolina Hurricanes  and PNC Arena brands. 
 RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  •  Oversee, lead and guide creative services department, which is comprised of graphic/motion design, video production, project management and photography. 
  • Work closely with members of creative services and marketing departments to establish our creative vision, defining how the brands translate to content and messaging across all marketing and communications mediums, like digital media, in-game entertainment, advertisements, etc. 
  • Assist in creation of content and concepts in alignment with key tentpole moments and campaigns pertaining to marketing, sales, entertainment, community outreach, etc. 
  • Assist in defining storytelling efforts across the organization, working with key stakeholders to guide messaging and content strategies that align with brand identity. 
  • Lead and assist in execution of production-based projects like photo and video shoots. 
  • Lead the continued improvements of all visual storytelling productions striving for best-in-class content across visual and content focused mediums. 
  • Provide input and guidance for better operational creative processes and workflows, working closely with project management lead and key stakeholders from various departments.
  • Lead creative meetings and serve as key contributor in content ideation and strategy meetings with digital marketing and content producers. 
  • Assist in productions based on skillset, video editing, graphic design, when needed. 
  • Ensure projects are managed efficiently and deadlines are met in order to help properly support organizational creative needs. 
  • Assist in identifying and working with freelance vendors to support content and creative production goals. 
  • Take active role in all brand and content brainstorming and ideation processes in order to continue enhancing brand identity and positioning. 
 QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Experience leading an in-house creative team or serving in a management role for an in-house creative team in the sports and/or entertainment industry. 
  •  Bachelor’s degree is preferred, ideally with a focus on video production, motion graphics and animation, graphic design or related field. 
  •  Professional experience with visual storytelling on a professional level: video editing and production and a strong understanding of graphic design, animation, photography, etc. 
  • Strong experience with every phase of video production, from pre-to-post production preferred. 
  • An above-average understanding of graphic design and/or graphic animation. 
  •  An appreciation for process and a proactive approach to production. 
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills and comfort working in a fast-paced environment. 
  •  The ability to direct and effectively critique any creative work, whether it be for internal producers, external agencies or freelance vendors, helping to ensure a top-quality end product. 
  •  Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience with copywriting and the ability to support the production of presentations that help support compelling and engaging information for brand or sales growth. 
  •  A strong relationship builder with an ability to facilitate ideation, collaboration and decision-making. 
  •  Empathetic leader with experience driving positive cultural change in growth situations. 
  •  This role will occasionally work nights / weekends / holidays due to the event schedule. 
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
