The Carolina Hurricanes are looking for a Director of Data Analysis to join our Hockey Operations team. Our Hockey Information Group collects and maintains an elaborate database of information about games all over the world; we aim to be leaders in making use of that data to obtain a competitive advantage. With that in mind, we are seeking an experienced analyst to use the data to develop insights and provide input into daily decisions across all of Hockey Operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidates should have a degree in a relevant technical field such as statistics, computer science, or data science or comparable experience and training.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Python, R, or comparable statistical scripting language is required. Experience with Python is preferred.
- Extensive experience with predictive modeling and machine learning is required. At least two years of professional experience is preferred.
- A deep understanding of the game of hockey is required. Experience working with hockey play-by-play data or location tracking data is a plus.
- Outstanding technical communication skills are required, including the ability to communicate with non-technical audiences. A demonstrated track record of published analysis is a significant plus.
- Experience working with time series data is a plus.
- The ideal candidate will work in the Raleigh, NC office, but remote applicants will also be considered.
- Must pass a criminal background check
