This internship is for the 2024-25 Season. The expected start date is on or around September 3, 2024 and the anticipated end date is in May or June 2025 (dependent upon playoffs).

*This internship requires 15-20 hours per week, earning $10/hour, paid monthly.*

Our Community Engagement Intern will work with our Director of Business Operations and Community Engagement to advance the mission and success of the Iowa Heartlanders. The Community Engagement Intern will assist in the day-to-day responsibilities and project-based work needed to expand our name and brand throughout the surrounding communities. The responsibilities of this internship must be performed in our Coralville business office.

As our Community Engagement Intern, YOU WILL:

· Be exposed to all facets of the organization. You will work with members of our Administration, Sales, Marketing, Ticket Operations, Merchandise, and Operations teams to support the goals of the organization. You will be assigned projects working with staff in each of these areas, which will provide incredible exposure to the professional hockey industry.

· Be responsible for expanding our name and brand. You will support the Director of Operations and Community Engagement through the execution of our day-to-day engagement and philanthropic activities, as well as project planning and coordination.

· Push us to greater heights. You aren’t satisfied with simply plugging into what’s happening in the community, you want to explore ideas and perform the necessary legwork to create new experiences. You want the Iowa Heartlanders to be known as a vital part of our community and work tirelessly to make that a reality.

· Wear several hats. You’ll be asked to perform a wide variety of tasks and projects. Some will require intellectual / thought work and others will be manual labor. You’ll see every one of them as equally valuable and worthy of your best effort and focus.

THE FINE PRINT:
· Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite of products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

· Must set and adhere to consistent working hours each week to allow for optimal communication with full-time staff.

· Able to work nights and weekends, as well as during all academic break periods (i.e. Fall Break, Winter Break, Spring Break).

· Pursuing a degree in Sport and Recreation Management, Business, Communications, Hospitality, or a similar field is highly preferred.

· An understanding of the working culture of the sports industry is highly preferred.
