Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Digital Content, the Manager of Marketing and Communications will be an integral part of the Indy Fuel’s marketing and communications efforts. This position will serve as the Fuel’s primary PR contact with different teams and local media outlets. They will contribute heavily to the execution of content and marketing strategies through written pieces, graphic design and video editing. They will have a firm grasp on the team’s statistical performance throughout the season and use that to contribute to written and social content initiatives.
  • Serve as Fuel’s primary PR contact for other teams, league officials and external media
  • Assist in writing, editing and executing content for the Fuel website and social media
  • Build and maintain relationships with members of local media while maximizing team exposure
  • Act as the liaison between hockey operations and the front office to release roster news and information
  • Create game day communications including game notes, game previews, game recaps, player bios and updated rosters and send to media / other teams when necessary
  • Conduct player and coach interviews after games/practices for distribution on Fuel digital channels
  • Help write releases and statements for corporate initiatives when necessary
  • Become familiar with technical aspects of FloSports and assist with set up and troubleshooting
  • Oversee home game set up including coaches’ video, press area, etc…
  • Assist with creating and executing different marketing initiatives
  • Assist with the planning and execution of content for digital channels
  • Assist with the creation of digital assets including graphics and videos while following brand guidelines
  • Help plan and execute different media events as well as organizing media coverage for big company events
  • Monitor team and player performance for franchise milestones
  • Keep track of team alumni for notable accomplishments
  • Attend all home games – clip highlights, write recap, put together highlights video and help deliver game notes to staff and locker rooms
  • Help cover road games as needed
  • Oversee a seasonal communications intern
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Fluent knowledge in covering hockey to provide ample analysis of the team’s performance is strongly preferred but not required
  • Must be proficient in AP style writing and press release format
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous on-air and/or interview experience a plus
  • Must attend all 36 home games each season in addition to preseason and potential playoff home games
  • Must assist with road game coverage when applicable
  • Must commit to working long and unusual hours, including evenings and weekends throughout the season
