ORGANIZATION

Southern Texas PGA - The STPGA is one of 41 PGA of America Sections in the country and serves over 800 PGA Members and Associates that work within the industry each day. These Professionals are the experts in the business and game of golf. The Section’s geographical area includes the metro areas of Austin, Beaumont, Bryan-College Station, Corpus Christi, Houston, Rio Grande Valley, and San Antonio.

The STPGA is located in Spring, TX and employs 12 Full-Time employees and over 100 Part-Time employees. The organization focuses on areas that enhance our Member’s ability to be world class professionals. This includes tournaments, educational seminars, employment support, and grow the game initiatives. Our Professionals work daily to grow interest and participation in the game of golf.

PGA REACH Southern Texas - In 1994 the Southern Texas PGA Foundation was created with the focus on getting more juniors playing golf. After a rebrand in 2019 to PGA REACH Southern Texas, the foundation’s mission has grown. We strive to positively impact the lives of youth, military, and diverse populations. This is accomplished by enabling access to PGA Professionals and the multitude of programs offered by PGA REACH Southern Texas. PGA REACH Southern Texas has 4 distinct pillars with multiple programs to demonstrate the impact of golf on individuals. PGA REACH Southern Texas is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that is an extension of PGA REACH, the PGA of America charitable foundation.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Southern Texas PGA Junior Golf Program has witnessed explosive growth over the last several years, and the new Junior Golf Coordinator would work in concert with the existing Junior Golf Coordinator and Junior Golf Manager in accomplishing the day-to-day functions of our Junior Golf Program. The STPGA has the largest junior golf program in the country with over 400 events and 4,000 junior golf members. This position is focused on our four tours of Little Linksters, Junior Links, Junior Tour, and Srixon Prestige Tour.

The Junior Golf Coordinator position will be dynamic with a variety of responsibilities. This position will work with the existing Junior Golf Coordinator to lead and manage the Caddie Program, be responsible for a large portion of scheduling junior golf events, manage the Membership Box Program, advancing Srixon Prestige Tour events, handle the tracking and consolidation of Junior Golf invoices, assist with the tracking of junior golf participation numbers, as well as several other duties. The goal of this position would be to accomplish the following:

Grow the game of golf
Elevate everything we are currently doing to retain this massive growth
Better serve our Junior Golfers and their families
Run the top Junior Golf program in the country
Better serve our PGA Members by conducting quality events for our Junior Golfers who will serve as their lesson base and facility customer/member base

JOB DESCRIPTION

q Scheduling and management of Southern Texas PGA Junior events. This will include contacting golf courses, sending contracts, and communicating with area staff that will be running the events. The STPGA Junior Golf Program has over 4,000 members and conducts more than 400 events annually

q Management of Caddie Program

q Management of the Dick Harmon Participation Grant

q Management of Junior Golf invoicing & tracking

q Management of Junior Golf membership box program

q Serve as the Advance Official at Srixon Prestige Tour events

q BlueGolf Support and Operations - This includes, but is not limited to, building events, daily registration approval and tracking, and managing the points lists

q Championship support for both juniors and professionals - This includes, but is not limited to, course marking, course set-up, starting, scoring, being a Rules Official, and helping with other operational duties.

q Assist the Junior Golf Manager with Junior Golf participation tracking

q Assist with the answering of phone calls daily from our junior golf members and parents

q Tournament financial report consolidation

q Assist with the ordering of Prestige Tour tee gifts and awards

q Assist with AJGA PBE and Exemptions for Prestige Tour

q Manage the Optimist relationship and events

q Management of tournament equipment and warehouse

q Attend grow the game functions at facilities where PGA Members are promoting junior golf programs run by the facility and the STPGA

q Verbal and written communication with host golf facilities concerning all aspects of respective events and programs

q Based on schedules, this position may be onsite during events such as Drive, Chip, and Putt, PGA Junior League, Texas Junior Cup Matches, PGA Tour Qualifiers, and Section events.

q Cultivate relationships with PGA Members, sponsors, and other supporters of the Southern Texas PGA

q Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Executive Director and Executive Director

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

q Strong moral character and unquestionable integrity

q Excellent communication skills both written and verbal and has a creative mindset

q Knowledge of the BlueGolf tournament software preferred

q Detail oriented and the ability to work on multiple projects

q Ability and willingness to travel frequently within the geographic boundaries of the Southern Texas PGA

q Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite of products

q Experience in golf tournament administration and operations

q Knowledge of the Rules of Golf and its decisions

q College degree preferred

q Work schedule includes frequent weekends and some holidays

q Team player motivated by the success of the organization over any personal gain

q Ability to light 50 pounds and work outside in hot conditions

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

q Bachelor’s degree (BA)

q Golf industry experience preferred but not required

q PGA Member a plus

q 1-2 years in the industry

COMPENSATION PACKAGE

Base Salary

q $38,000 - $42,000 based on experience
