Job Description
Responsible for the preparation of team’s merchandise and marketing collateral for the upcoming Kastles season. Research and attend grassroots and guerilla marketing events in the Washington DC area, representing the Kastles. Develop a plan for selling and promotion of team merchandise for sale on website and team store at stadium, and manage all aspects of the merchandise program.
Desired Experience
Candidate should have a background in project management and experience with graphic design. Previous merchandise experience, in retail or design, is highly desired. Strong organizational skills are a must, including significant experience with Microsoft Excel. Sports and/or tennis background a plus, but not required. Candidate must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Primarily responsible for managing the merchandise program, including inventory, online merchandise store as well as both of the team’s merchandise stands on match nights.
  • Work with vendors to procure new merchandise including samples and approval.
  • Set up and run Kastles store at Kastles Stadium on match days.
  • Assist with setup and teardown of stadium on match days.
  • Work with local tennis clubs to manage new merchandise distribution channels.
  • Develop and execute team’s grassroots marketing plan, including identifying events, working with external organizations and managing staff.
  • Attend community events as a representative of the Kastles.
  • Assist with creation of all graphic design materials, including merchandise and marketing collaterial.
  • Research and develop ideas for new Kastles promotions and events.
  • Other tasks as required by the senior management of the Washington Kastles.
Seasonal position will begin on April 16 and end on August 10. All seasonal positions require a full-time commitment during business hours. Significant weekend and evening hours will also be required, including attendance at all Kastles home matches. Compensation is $600-800/week on a contract basis, dependent on experience.
All seasonal employees must provide their own computers for use when working with the Washington Kastles.
