Paid Undergraduate internships assisting the United States Tennis Association business units identified below with project-driven tasks including the Foundation, IT, Analytics, events, etc. The internship runs from June 8th through August 14th. The paid internship is 32 hours work week. No housing provided. There are 10 internships located at the National Campus in Orlando, FL location Please select up to two of the Departments.   

  • USTA Foundation - Position will assist with various projects to support the mission of the Foundation, to change lives through tennis and education programs. This work would require research and analysis of the Foundation's National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) network of over 250 organizations. Some of the research would focus on deeper insights about the diversity of the NJTL network participants. Candidate should have the ability to use Excel or Google Sheets, should be skilled with database collection; have an ability to use internet search engines to seek data sources; should possess confidence and professionalism in outreach with NJTL network personal via phone or email; should be organized, detail-oriented and adaptable and, have a sense of humor.  
  • Adult Tennis – With over 300,000 players playing across the country, the USTA League program is the largest recreational sports program in the United States. The internship will aim to teach the right candidate about the USTA League program from the perspective of administration, marketing, rules and regulations, etc. The intern will also have the opportunity to learn about all of USTA Community Tennis. Candidates should have literacy with Microsoft Excel and Google Suite programs (Gmail, Google Docs, etc). Good interpersonal skills are a must. Tennis ability preferred, but not necessary.  
  • Youth Tennis - Junior Play – Position will help support the Youth Competition Department with various aspects of day to day operations. Intern will assist with the development of an education strategy for the new Net Generation Pathway throughout the country, as well as assist with developing and implementing a rollout strategy for the Net Generation Circuit and its products. Intern will also provide support for the 2020 Junior Team Tennis National Championships preparation. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs and Google Suite programs. Knowledge of tennis preferred, but not necessary. 
  • Team USA Pro - Position will provide assistance around the execution of the performance team model. Duties will include tracking Top 300 player schedules and results, administration and execution of Team USA training weeks and video analysis projects. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google Suite programs. Must understand the basics of tennis.  
  • Facility Development - Position will use the Tennis Maps tool in order to search through regions of the country and locate sites that have not been documented. Once located, the intern will research the site and provide details. Throughout the project the intern may be asked to call and/or research sites that have already been documented in order to make the file more robust. Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel, have excellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable making phone calls.  
  • Program Development – Activations - The intern will have an impact by providing support to the Program Development Team to help leverage national partnerships to help the USTA Sections to have an impact on "Intro to Tennis" through schools, community organizations and activations. The intern will work closely with the Program Development Team as it looks to recruit and manage 6 events on the Pro Circuit, National Junior, and Collegiate levels. The intern will also provide support to the activation team as they prepare for the Competitive Pathway events and US Open Series. Candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office products, Gmail and Google Suite products, and have strong organizational and interpersonal skills.  
  • Information Technology - Position will assist desktop support staff in setup of computers, update computers and check equipment. Candidate should be studying computer science of information systems, be proficient in networking, Windows and Macintosh Operating Systems, Microsoft Office and Google for Work apps.  
  • Competitive Pathway Juniors - Position will provide operational and administrative support to the USTA Junior Competitive Pathway team. Intern will provide assistance with tasks pertaining to the ITF Junior tournament and tournaments on the National Junior schedule. Additionally, support tournament preparation and operation for tournaments held at the National Campus. Ideal candidate has strong communication skills, both verbal and written, creative thinking and be proficient in Microsoft Excel. A competitive tennis background is preferred, but not necessary. 
  • Officiating - Positon will assist the USTA Officiating Department with day to day operational activities, including preparation for the 2020 US Open Tennis Championships. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as Google Suite programs 
Performance Analytics- Player Development - The Internship is structured to provide significant experiential training and opportunity for independent research in the field of performance analytics not typically available to someone at the entry level. Intern will become fully immersed in Player Development through weekly gatherings with PD staff and coaches and through the examination of issues currently affecting American Tennis. Candidate should have outstanding interpersonal skills, general computer skills including the working knowledge of sport specific or general video editing software as well as data management and visualization platforms. Candidate must have demonstrable knowledge and experience in the sport of tennis and/or performance analytics. Present or former recreational, high school or collegiate tennis players encouraged to apply
