The Genesis Invitational Tournament interns are significant resources to TGR Live and the TGR Foundation and are essential to the success of The Genesis Invitational. Tournament interns will be exposed to several facets of the tournament and event management operations in preparation for the 2020 event to be held February 10-16 at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, CA. Positions are open to undergraduate, graduate students, and recent graduates (sports marketing and business majors preferred, but not required.)

Applicants must:
  • Be available to work approximately 25-40 hours/week (early mornings, late nights, weekends) including the entire week of February 10-16;
  • Work efficiently under pressure and work on several projects simultaneously prioritizing time-sensitive projects;
  • Take initiative and operate proactively in project management and problem solving;
  • Be organized with attention to detail and follow through;
  • Be comfortable working both in office and on-course environments;
  • Have excellent oral and written communications skills;
  • Be proficient in MS Office;
  • Be a team player;
  • Be able to provide their own housing and reliable transportation to The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, CA.
  • Payment: All positions are paid on a stipend.

TOURNAMENT COMMUNICATIONS INTERN:
Must have excellent oral, written and digital communication skills, work well under pressure, be highly motivated, organized, and a team player. Experience writing press releases, news stories, blogs,social media copy is a plus. Strong computer skills are also required with proficiency in Word, MS Office and Excel. Adobe Creative Suite skills are preferred. 
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Work with communications team to plan and coordinate tournament media preview day
including conceptualizing event activations, invitation and RSVP tracking, golf lists with
handicaps and more
  • Staff media preview day and assist with various set-up, tear down and media tours as
assigned
  • Assist in writing and editing press releases and media materials
  • Update media contact distribution list
  • Staff registration desk in tournament media center; welcoming media, checking approved
    lists, credentialing and assisting with general media center operations
  • Assist with content planning, creation (writing, editing, graphics,) and distribution to
    promote the Genesis Invitational, focusing on digital content for web and social media
  • Assist in the creation, development and implementation of social media campaigns aimed
    at driving engagement with target audiences
  • Assist with writing and editing of digital marketing materials including emails, blogs and
    web content
  • Schedule, plan, execute and staff marketing and promotional grassroots street team
    events with the goal of creating awareness for The Genesis Invitational in the community
  • Assist with daily tournament activities as assigned (e.g., HQ admin, answering phones, and
    miscellaneous tasks)

START/END DATE: Monday, Nov. 4 – Friday, February 21
