The American Express is looking for a Tournament Services Intern. This position will be responsible for assisting the Tournament Staff with planning and logistics for staging the event. The ideal candidate for this position must be able to work well in a high-pressure environment, must display strong organizational skills, and must show a high level of oral and written communication.

Tournament Services

Assist with daily tournament activities as assigned (i.e. Checking F&B, Tournament Office, Pro Am set up, etc.)
Assist tournament staff with special events and projects as needed
Assist with the coordination of the Tournament’s social media and marketing efforts
Assist with tournament courtesy car program
Assist with general administrative work and other Tournament Service-related duties as assigned
Providing top-notch customer service to fans and sponsorS
Compiling reports for ticket sales
Assist with operation of ticket office during tournament week
Create process for Admissions and Will Call during tournament week

Volunteer Operations

Assist in volunteer uniform distribution and committee meetings leading up to the tournament
Assist with Volunteer Appreciation Events
Assist with volunteer database management
Assist with volunteer communication and scheduling
Serve as point of contact for various volunteer committees

Sponsor Benefits

Support the Sponsor Benefits team throughout all stages of the sales process
Assist with creation of sales collateral
Coordinate event registration, implementation, and gifting during tournament week including but not limited to inputting Pro-Am participant information into Sales Force and Golf Genius.
Coordination of client ticket and credential fulfillment
Work with Sponsor Benefits Director, Food & Beverage, Operations and Volunteers to ensure all suites are show ready for tournament week

Qualifications & Experience:

Sport Management, Marketing, Management, Communications majors preferred
Eligible to work in the United States; International students must have all visas and employment authorizations
Must be able to provide own housing and transportation
Ability to work in a team environment
Work collaboratively with other departments such as Sponsor Relations, Sales, Marketing, and Volunteers on other projects as assigned
Public relations skills and ability to communicate with staff, volunteers, corporate clients, club members and public
Must take initiative, operate proactively and think independently in project management, problem solving, and critical thinking
Capacity to work on several projects simultaneously
Self-discipline with schedule and time management
Organization, attention to detail and follow-through are crucial
Ability to stand for lengthy periods and to lift/move boxes of supplies potentially weighing 50 pounds
Must be able to work exceptionally well with others in a close team environment
Must be polite, courteous, and treat all guests and associates respectfully
Must be able to stay calm during stressful or demanding moments
Work extended hours; including nights and weekends leading up to and during the event

Tentative Employment Dates

The Tournament Services internship Dates: December 5th 2022-February 6th, 2023.

December 5th -January 2nd: 30-40 Hours per week*
January 3rd – January 23rd: 60 Hours per week
January 24th -February 6th: 20 Hours per week

*Evening and Weekends will be necessary as tournament approaches. Holiday schedule will be provided.

SPORTFIVE seeks to hire full-time, temporary staff to augment the tournament staff in the Palm Springs, CA market. These temporary positions provide on-the-job experience in the sports and event management field. The tournament has numerous activities occurring throughout event week. Temporary staff manage many of these elements under the guidance of the tournament staff and thus play an integral role in the success of the tournament.
