Lagardère Sports has more than 1,300 employees and conducts business in more than 20 countries. Current Lagardère Golf clients include PGA TOUR stars Phil Mickelson, Jordan Spieth, Davis Love III, Jon Rahm and Brandt Snedeker. The Lagardère Sports Golf Event Management Division is based in Beaverton, Oregon and is led by industry veteran Jeff Sanders. As the leader in golf event management Jeff Sanders and his team have produced over 275 PGA TOUR, Web.com Tour, Celebrity and Charity tournaments over the past 30 years. Current PGA TOUR events include the Safeway Open and Career Builder Challenge as well as the Albertsons Boise Open and WinCo Foods Portland Open on the Web.com Tour. Charity is the primary focus for every event and over $250 Million has been raised by the Golf Event Management team to date.

WinCo Foods Portland Open presented by Kraft Heinz:

The WinCo Foods Portland Open is a golf tournament on the Web.com Tour. It was first played in August 2014 at Witch Hollow at Pumpkin Ridge in North Plains, Oregon, a suburb of Portland. Northwest-based supermarket chain WinCo Foods was named as the title sponsor in June 2013.

Since its inception, the Portland Open has become the last regular season event on the Web.com Tour. The event gives players one last chance to place in the Top 25 on the money list to earn a PGA Tour card or play their way into the top 75 to retain full Web.com Tour privileges and earn a chance at a PGA Tour card via the Web.com Tour Finals.

Safeway Open presented by Chevron:

The Safeway Open is a PGA TOUR Golf Tournament located in Napa, California. The event was first operated by Lagardère Sports in 2016 and has quickly become recognized for its unique combination of Food, Wine, Music and Golf.  

Job Description: 

As the Tournament Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the coordination and planning of the on-site operation of PGA TOUR, Web.com and charity golf tournaments. In addition to the planning and preparation in the Beaverton, Oregon office, this position will travel to various golf events throughout the year. You will manage the supporting vendors, PGA TOUR on-site staff, host site and local medical / security agencies in the build and execution of the event.  

Role Ownership:
  • Responsible for the development and execution of tournament site plans 
  • Responsible for the execution of vendor relationships for the tournament 
  • Responsible for the development and execution of vendor timelines for the tournament 
  • Responsible for managing the operational budget for the tournament 
  • Responsible for the permitting process and execution for the tournament 
  • Responsible for all tournament signage placement 
  • Responsible for managing Golf Channel set up and build 
  • Responsible for the coordination and execution with PGA TOUR Rules 
  • Responsible for the recruitment and management of tournament operational team (seasonal) 
  • Responsible for the management of tournament equipment  

The Tournament Operations Manager will report to the Director of Operations

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree from a 4-year college or university
  • 2+ years of event management experience
  • Strong passion for event management and dedication to perform and succeed at the highest level.
  • Ability to travel 40+ days a year and work independently from office 
  • Ability to manage 3-4 staff members
  • Extremely high communication skills
  • Fluent in all Microsoft Office applications and Access
  • Must highly organized with the ability to multitask 
  • Willing and capable of safely operating heavy machinery (forklift, etc.)
