BACKGROUND:

Bruno Event Team has an immediate and exciting opportunity for a for a mid-level professional to serve as Community Relations and Marketing Manager with the Principal Charity Classic, the annual PGA TOUR Champions event in Des Moines, Iowa. This position will play a key role as a member of our team in Des Moines and will report to the Tournament Director.

The award-winning Principal Charity Classic, named the 2016 PGA TOUR Champions Tournament of the Year, has raised more than $45 million for Iowa kids since 2007. Tournament funds benefit organizations that provide a broad level of support to Iowa kids in the areas of education and culture, financial security and stability, and/or health and wellness. Last year, the tournament touched the lives of more than 130,000 children statewide.

The event draws world-class golfers to Des Moines each year, including Fred Couples, Ernie Els and Jim Furyk, among many others. The tournament partners with hundreds of corporate sponsors who help make the Principal Charity Classic the marquee event of the summer in Des Moines.

The tournament is managed by Bruno Event Team, a nationwide sports management company.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for coordinating and facilitating the tournament volunteer program, managing community outreach programs and initiatives, along with leading the tournament’s marketing efforts.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee volunteer program consisting of over 1,000+ individuals, including development and execution of recruiting strategy, committee communications plans, and event execution
Responsible for volunteer training program including scheduling and material development
Oversee volunteer headquarters including food & beverage procurement and venue design and setup
Assist Tournament Director with the financial processes for volunteer areas, including budget management, purchase orders and expense allocation
Manage tournament’s Birdies for Charity Program and other charitable endeavors
Serve as year-round staff liaison to the tournament’s primary charity partners and facilitate planning and execution of special events/activations for charity partners
Manage the tournament’s e-ticketing platform, ticket fulfillment and credentialing
Work closely with tournament title sponsor to develop and execute a comprehensive marketing program, both short- and long-term, to support ticket sales, sponsorship implementation/activation, and revenue objectives of the tournament. This will include, but not be limited to the following activities:
- Manage the development and timely executions of all advertising/media communications (conventional and new media) including the targeted and timely production of all creative content, press releases, email marketing, digital, outdoor, and other media.
- Manage media planning, placement, and trafficking process for paid and non-paid media.
Develop marketing creative strategy and design
Secure individual charitable donations from existing and prospective identified donors
Develop ideas for fan enhancements, hospitality products and sponsorship categories
Assist with tournament-related events for pre-tournament, tournament week and post-tournament, including Pro- Am, Honorary Observers, Volunteer & Charitable Events, as well as any other special functions developed by the tournament team or sponsors
Travel to other Bruno Event Team events in a support role assisting onsite staff

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, sports management, or a related area preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of management experience, ideally in marketing, sports, event management, media or hospitality required.
Industry experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Trust Event, Authorize.net, Google analytics, DocuSign, Square and other event related software platforms preferred.
Ideal candidate will have a professional demeanor with the ability to communicate clearly to executives at all levels (both internally and externally). He/she will be an energetic self-starter with a passion for taking ownership of multiple projects, executing with excellence in a fast-paced environment and serving as a reliable member of a small and dedicated team and demonstrate the ability to work in multiple environments (in the office and on the golf course) and interact professionally with many different kinds of audiences and tournament constituents
In depth knowledge of the Des Moines and Iowa business and charitable community

SALARY & BENEFITS:
