The Lagardère Sports Golf Event Management Division is based in Beaverton, Oregon and is led by industry veteran Jeff Sanders. As the leader in golf event management Jeff Sanders and his team have produced over 275 PGA TOUR, Korn Ferry Tour, Celebrity and Charity tournaments over the past 30 years. Current PGA TOUR events include the Safeway Open and The American Express as well as the Albertsons Boise Open and WinCo Foods Portland Open on the Korn Ferry Tour. Charity is the primary focus for every event and over $250 Million has been raised by the Golf Event Management team to date.

WinCo Foods Portland Open presented by Kraft Heinz: 
The 2020 WinCo Foods Portland Open will be the 7th annual tournament held at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, OR. This event is the regular season finale on the Korn Ferry Tour, televised on Golf Channel, and features the top 156 professionals as they vie to be in the Top 25 of the regular season standings to earn their 2021 PGA TOUR card. Since the inception of the event in 2014, this tournament has given back over $7.4 million to local charities. Past participants include: Justin Thomas, Tony Finau, Xander Schauffele, Cameron Champ and many other PGA TOUR stars.

Job Description:
The WinCo Foods Portland Open Tournament Services Intern is responsible for assisting the Tournament Staff with planning and logistics for staging the event. The ideal candidate for this position must be able to work well in a high-pressure environment, must display strong organizational skills, and must show a high level of oral and written communication. 

Duties (could include items such as or similar to)
  • Tournament Operations 
    • Assist with placement and set up of all office trailers 
    • Coordinate golf cart inventory, delivery and pickup; create intake plan and work with volunteers tournament week to ensure proper allocation of carts 
    • Create and utilize a log for each shipment prior to tournament week; assist volunteer committee during tournament week to ensure proper delivery of shipments 
    • Support staff, PGA TOUR Officials, vendors, and volunteers with the physical preparation of the golf course, tournament site, and off-site areas 
    • Track and inventory tournament assets such as radios, signage, and other supplies 
    • Inventory storage units 
    • Responsible for the physical set-up and tear down of various events (i.e. Moving tables, setting up displays/signage, and moving sponsor products) 
    • Assist with daily tournament activities as assigned (i.e. distribution of daily starting times and groupings guides) 
    • Operations support for sponsorship activation leading up to and during tournament week (i.e. Pro-Ams, Family Day & Pancake Breakfast) 
    • Coordinate receiving of donated product; inventory and organize all product 
    • Assist in distribution and handling of all product utilized by tournament venues. 
    • Assist tournament staff with special events and projects as needed 
    • Assist with general administrative work and other Tournament Service related duties as assigned 
  • Volunteer Operations 
    • Assist in volunteer uniform distribution and committee meetings leading up to the tournament 
    • Assist with Volunteer Appreciation Party 
    • Assist with volunteer database management 
    • Assist with volunteer communication and scheduling 
    • Serve as point of contact for various volunteer committees 
  • Qualifications & Experience 
    • Student in an accredited four-year college or university or currently possess a Bachelor’s degree 
    • Sport Management, Marketing, Management, Comunications majors preferred 
    • Eligible to work in the United States; International students must have all visas and employment authorizations 
    • Must be able to provide own housing and transportation 
    • Ability to work in a team environment 
    • Work collaboratively with other departments such as Sponsor Relations, Sales, Marketing, and Volunteers on other projects as assigned 
    • Public relations skills and ability to communicate with staff, volunteers, corporate clients, club members and public 
    • Must take initiative, operate proactively and think independently in project management, problem solving, and critical thinking 
    • Capacity to work on several projects simultaneously 
    • Self-discipline with schedule and time management 
    • Organization, attention to detail and follow-through are crucial 
    • Ability to stand for lengthy periods and to lift/move boxes of supplies potentially weighing 50 pounds 
    • Must be able to work exceptionally well with others in a close team environment 
    • Must be polite, courteous, and treat all guests and associates respectfully 
    • Must be able to stay calm during stressful or demanding moments 
    • Work extended hours; including nights and weekends leading up to and during the event
