We presently have an opportunity for a Broadcast Engineer within PGA TOUR Entertainment. This position provides primary engineering support for the PGA TOUR Enhanced International Feed production and New Media production on tournament days. In addition, the Senior Broadcast Engineer provides broad based support for broadcast-specific IP systems as well as general engineering/technical support to the overall PGATE facility as directed by the Chief Engineer.
 
Qualified candidates will have the following:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Technical School or related experience.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in broadcast-specific IT hardware, software, and networking, live broadcast engineering support, video/audio system design, implementation/documentation and digital media applications such as NLE systems/networks.
 
Required Technical Skills:
 
  • Thorough understanding of broadcast-specific IP technologies, including IP based infrastructure, software, networking and IP based media workflows.
  • Ability to troubleshoot software and networking issues with IP based broadcast systems.
  • Thorough understanding of digital media concepts and applications.
  • Ability to set-up, troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on transmission related equipment including encoders, decoders, frame synchronizers, satellite antenna systems with thorough understanding of fiber based equipment technologies.
  • Ability to perform installation and routine maintenance of baseband HDSDI equipment, including routers, video servers, studio cameras, production switchers and terminal equipment with the skills to troubleshoot to the component level when possible.
  • Ability to properly terminate audio, video, and network cables.
  • Maintain enterprise Avid editing platform, supporting multiple workstation clients across the network.
  • The ability to understand and operate audio and video test equipment such as waveform monitors, vectorscopes, oscilloscopes, distortion analyzers, spectrum analyzers, ASI stream analyzers and other test equipment commonly used in the broadcast industry.
  • Ability to perform complete software installation and/or upgrades.
  • Thorough understanding of digital electronic theory and application.
  • Some knowledge of Linux OS is preferable.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  • Administration support of Avid and/or Adobe based post-production systems.
  • Administration support of EVS & graphic systems networks.
  • Backup administration support as required for the PGATE Media Asset Management system.
  • Technical/Engineering oversight & support for the weekly PGA TOUR Enhanced International Feed.
  • Preventive maintenance and repair to the component level of all broadcast equipment utilized by PGA TOUR Entertainment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation relative to installation and repair of broadcast equipment.
  • Technical coordination between satellite system provider and Productions.
  • Fabricate and terminate audio, video, control, and computer cables.
  • Routine coordination with TOUR IT department on issues relating to the TOUR IT networks at PGATE.
  • Maintain operations within guidelines of PGATE Technical Procedures.
  • Special Projects or other duties as assigned.
