Internship: Internship
The Special Events Intern works closely with the Manager of Events and Membership on the preparation and implementation of events and activities related to the Pro-Am Tournaments, where amateur golfers play a round of golf with professional PGA TOUR players.

The Farmers Insurance Open’s internship program is an extremely hands-on experience where students will have the opportunity to play a major role in the execution of San Diego’s PGA TOUR event held at Torrey Pines from January 20 – 26, 2020.

TIME COMMITMENT:
The internship runs from November 1, 2019 to February 14, 2020. From November to December, preferred availability is 2-3 days a week for a weekly total of 6-10 hours. Hours may increase as the Tournament approaches.
 
Please note this position MUST be able to work Friday, January 17 to Sunday, January 26, 2020, as needed, as well as full days on Pro-Am event days: Sunday, January 19 – Wednesday, January 22, 2020.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Onsite event support at the Pro-Am Pairings Party and Pro-Am Tournaments
  • Pro-Am registration follow-up and handicap verification
  • Administrative tasks related to the Pro-Ams (i.e. preparing spreadsheets, collateral proofreading, tracking inventory, shipping, etc.) 
  • Provide support with gifting and hospitality needs for the Pro-Am post-play reception
  • Assembling Pro-Am gift packages and monitoring inventory of gift items
  • Assisting with maintenance of Pro-Am website portals
  • Assisting with the execution of other related events including the after-play Post Party, Restaurant Partner program, and Century Club Membership meetings and events

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience or interest in hospitality, events, and operations preferred 
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong communication skills, both in written and verbal formats 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment, but can also handle independent projects
  • Must be able to multi-task and be extremely detail-oriented
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service
  • Ability to carry 30 pounds and walk/stand for long periods of time
