The Product Manager is responsible for the growth and evolution of the product(s) in their portfolio. Working with the business and end users to develop a plan, including objectives and measurable results to help drive prioritization.

Working closely with a Project Manager, who will lead execution, the Product Manager will also be responsible for continuous discovery to understand the users' experience, needs, expectations, etc.; leading experiments to test new features; and reporting out on metrics for those already delivered.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

Actively seek out customer and market insights that lead to high-value digital products.

Communicate and coordinate plans, status and training, both internally and to customers.

Write user stories, prioritize and manage the product backlogging, and perform release planning.

Ensure the creation of valuable products for customers; delivered on time and with great quality.

Hold a deep understanding of and collaborate across all aspects of the business: financial, marketing, sales, legal, partnerships, service customer environment, technical capabilities, user’s development product KPIs and plans to improve them.

Use and communicate product KPIs to assess business impact and drive progress.

Drive marketing and promotion of products throughout their lifecycle.

Contribute substantially to the user experience and design of products.

Select vendors and partners through RFP process and make/buy analyses, support and develop corporate relationships.

Mentor and train other team members on new technologies, design techniques, customer/market development processes, and product management practices.

Push the boundaries of technology to drive increasingly higher levels of engagement and value.


Use persistence and grit to push the business beyond its comfort zone via compelling evidence, constant, communication, and building bridges across functions.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in product-related field of study or related field preferred.  Master’s degree or further education or experience in a product development related field.

Seven years’ experience working with two or more of the following:  web application development, databases, mobile application development, distributed and parallel systems, machine learning, networking, and/or developing large software systems. Significant product leadership of Agile teams building technical products based on data and customer insights with responsibility for creating value and delivering great design and UX.   Advanced design, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.   An active contributor and thought leader in the broader technology products industry.

Experience with one or more of the following: user story mapping, user journey maps, persona development, customer development, and entrepreneurship, lean UX, lean startup, dual track scrum.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: 

Job Knowledge/Technology:  Knowledge of product development methods.   Must have skill in operation of computer; skills in word processing and spreadsheet software applications; skills in the use of graphic design tools such as Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator; skills in web-based scripting languages.  Ability to define the features and requirements necessary to deliver a complete product.  Ability to communicate and disseminate their vision to everyone effectively.  Must have ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data and ability logically structure processes and procedures.  Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.\

Organization: The ability to manage multiple projects and determine project urgency in a practical way.   Manage transition from task to task effectively. 

Resourcefulness: The ability to identify opportunities to use resources that are already available or are easy/inexpensive to obtain; ability to consider the surrounding environment before making costly decisions; ability to use imagination and creativity to navigate difficult situations.

Collaboration and Teamwork: Works harmoniously with others to get a job done, responds positively to instructions and procedures and is able to work well with staff while maintaining relationships, which breed productive disagreement and debate.
