About the XFL
The new XFL is reimagining football for the 21st century with a brand new, fan-first league that’s giving fans more action, access, and fun. Delivering authentic, high-energy football for the whole family at an affordable price, the XFL offers fast-paced games with fewer play stoppages and simpler rules. The league consists of eight teams in markets across the country, 45-man active rosters, and a 10-week regular season schedule with a postseason that includes two semifinal playoff games and a championship game. The XFL is a single entity that owns the league and all teams, employing professionals at the Stamford, CT headquarters as well as in each of the markets that the teams call home.

About the Role:
This position will work closely with the Sr. Director, People and Culture to facilitate the management of all phases of Human Resources for business, football operations, and functions of the XFL, including assisting with project management, monitoring compliance and performance management.

The successful candidate will be eager and experienced, detail-oriented, and must specifically excel in high visibility, fast-paced, high-stress, and “roll-up-your-sleeves” environments. This person will have experience in a Human Resources capacity and will have shown ability in partnering with multiple stakeholders (Total Rewards, HRIS, Payroll) on initiatives.

What you will do:
  • Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of employee handbook and policies & procedures manual.
  • Provide employees with state specific new hire paperwork and ensure it is submitted in a timely manner.
  • Submit and manage employee changes within Workday.
  • Assist payroll with player transactions and accurate payroll processing. 
  • Monitor People & Culture mailbox.
  • Monitor and oversee the compliance hotline.
  • Advise and provide coaching to first-time managers on employee relations, systems implementation, performance management, company policies, and other related topics.
  • Assist in Employee Relation Issues.
  • Assist in building action plans around engagement survey results.
  • Run reports and audit HR data such as headcount, turnover, and special requests.
  • Assist with performance management procedures, including “year-end” and building process in Workday.
  • Participate in the player onboarding process.
  • Oversee the player contract renewal process.
  • Manage office space, seating designations and moves with facilities and technology.
  • Manage part-time, temporary and contingent workers hiring, extensions, and termination processes.
  • Create, implement, and conduct the Exit Interview Process.
  • Responsible for successful offboarding and smooth transition of departing employees by providing excellent customer service and facilitation.
  • Coordinate with the manager and IT for closeout of systems, termination paperwork, the return of property, etc.
  • Ensure legal compliance of HR state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and/or procedures as required.
  • Identify and recommend continuous improvements to HR programs and processes to drive efficiencies and enhance the employee experience.
  • Stay up to date on US HR laws (payroll, benefits, compliance, terminations, leave of absences, etc.)
  • Schedule People & Culture team meetings, manage agendas, and drive action items.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives and provide general support to the People & Culture department as needed.
  • Assist with event planning related to charitable giving, volunteering, and company involvement.

What you will bring:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Resources-related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • Desire to work as a team with a results-driven approach.
  • 3-5 years of experience.
  • Exposure to Labor Law, equal employment regulations, and multi-state HR practices.
  • Exposure to payroll practices.
  • Understanding of HR functions and best practices.
  • Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
  • Highly computer literate with capability in email, G-Suite and related business and communication tools.
  • Fantastic organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of HR federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and navigate in a rapidly-changing environment.
  • Strong communication abilities with demonstrated experience influencing and collaborating cross-functionally and remotely.
  • Experience with being the face of HR, representing policies and practices to managers and employees across the organization.
  • An analytical mindset and can think critically.
  • Experience with Workday, ADP or similar HRIS preferred.
  • PHR or SHRM Certification is a plus.
