About the XFL
The new XFL will reimagine football for the 21st century when it kicks off in February 2020. Delivering authentic, high-energy football for the whole family at an affordable price, the XFL will offer fast-paced games with fewer play stoppages and simpler rules. The league will launch with eight teams in markets across the country, 45-man active rosters and a 10-week regular season schedule with a postseason consisting of two semifinal playoff games and a championship game. The XFL is a single entity that owns the league and all teams, employing professionals at the Stamford, CT headquarters as well as in each of Gina the markets that the teams call home.

About the Position
The New York Guardians are seeking an eight-month seasonal Football Communications Coordinator responsible for supporting strategic communications planning for the New York Guardians Brand. This person will contribute ideas to the overall organizational and on-the-field narrative, help facilitate coach and player media requests and develop quality notes utilizing statistical information highlighting the game on the field.

The Football Communications Coordinator will report to the Director, Communications & Media Relations and will support efforts to research football information - including game notes, statistics, milestones and records. He or she will support media relations at select practices, media days, at all New York Guardians home games and player/coach appearances in the community.

What you will do
  • Coordinate media requests with players and coaches under the guidance of the Director of Communications.
  • Maintain weekly press clippings and assist with inventory and organization of New York Guardains collateral needed to promote the team.
  • Produce football-related content, primarily in the form of written press releases, advisories, team publications and content for social media/digital channels.
  • Create informational graphics to promote key football related content and themes.
  • Manage game-day PR and stats crew, including scheduling of staff and necessary administrative responsibilities for both home and away games. Be prepared to work remotely for away games to handle all pregame and postgame football communications-related requests. 
  • Assist with gameday player relations and media relations operations, including pregame and postgame press conferences, team interviews, credential set-up, press box set-up, in-game media servicing and post-game quotes. 
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key external parties such as media, influencers, VIPs and dignitaries. Work with internal partners in Ticket Sales, Partnership, Marketing, Content, Community Relations and Game Presentation to provide access to players and coaches as needed. 
  • Maintain team communications calendar.
  • Work in the office throughout the football season to regularly maintain player bios, franchise fact sheets and produce weekly recaps of the key aspects of broadcasts. NY Guardians media coverage and relevant chatter on social media should be tracked and logged. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • BS/BA required.
