About the XFL
The new XFL will reimagine football for the 21st century when it kicks off in early 2020. Delivering authentic, high-energy football for the whole family at an affordable price, the XFL will offer fast-paced games with fewer play stoppages and simpler rules. The league will launch with eight teams in markets across the country, 45-man active rosters and a 10-week regular season schedule with a postseason consisting of two semifinal playoff games and a championship game. The XFL is a single entity that owns the league and all teams, employing professionals at the Stamford, CT headquarters as well as in each of the markets that the teams call home.
About the Position
The Manager, Partnerships will develop, prospect, negotiate and secure revenue-generating and value-creating programming and activations that support the Los Angeles Wildcats overall business strategy and integrated marketing plan throughout the Los Angeles area. The Manager, Partnerships will build authentic relationships with numerous executive-level decision makers locally, regionally and nationally as necessitated by the partnership, in addition to serving as a gameday host for the LA Wildcats partner roster.
The Manager, Partnerships is a key member of the partnership team and is responsible for a specific roster of account activations to build brand relevancy, community, fandom and revenue opportunities throughout the year.
What you will do
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Partnerships in creating our go-to-market community partnership / revenue activation strategies for the LA Wildcats.
  • Serve as a business developer and partnership negotiator between the LA Wildcats and prospective commercial, civic and community partners (and their respective agencies of record) locally, regionally and nationally–driving sales revenues and operational cost savings while building brand equity for the LA Wildcats in the LA business community. 
  • Support in the creation, valuation and management of LA Wildcats suite of partnership assets, including, but not limited to, partner-branded ownership platforms, multi-channel media packages and game-related content and experiences.
  • Develop a strategic business plan for prospecting high-potential partners in key categories available for local LA Wildcats partnerships by networking, leveraging available research, CRM tracking and other tools.
  • Manage and track inventory assets and develop market research, proposals and presentation materials.
  • Support partnership retention and growth initiatives to ensure long-term sustainable success and revenue growth for the LA Wildcats.
  • Coordinate and execute local activation of national partnerships sold through XFL national commercial sales efforts.
  • Collaborate with LA Wildcats Senior Director of Partnerships, as well as all XFL and LA Wildcats representatives to share best practices and develop strategies to drive revenue potential and overall value for the XFL.
  • Work closely with Senior Director of Partnerships and key stakeholders at Dignity Health Sports Park to ensure partners’ interests are being fully considered.
  • Create community programming opportunities that appeal to potential partners’ cause marketing-centric efforts, while achieving the team’s fan engagement and business goals–including revenue generation and expense mitigation.
  • Prioritize and manage your accounts and build a pipeline to ensure that the LA Wildcats’ commercial sales outreach and partnership activation resources and available budget are dedicated to areas of significant mutual impact, maximizing ROI and earned media potential for the LA Wildcats and its official partners.
  • Partner with Senior Director, Partnerships and Director, Football Operations to manage and support any players or coaching staff appearances at partner programming, including, but not limited to, exclusive VIP experiences, content production, special partner events and surprise-and-delight office visits throughout the year.
  • Support and assist on other fan-focused events for the organization.
  • Be a key contributor within the LA Wildcats staff, ensuring the team is meeting the needs of partners and community organizations.

How you will be measured
  • Achieving commercial revenue goals, including negotiating operational cost savings on behalf of the LA Wildcats and the XFL headquarters.
  • Meeting/exceeding budget goals, including partnership activation expenditures.
  • Development of unique partner-branded activities, both quantity of programming and quality of positive impact (e.g. direct fan and community engagements, opt-in database additions, earned media value, ticket sales, etc.).
  • Fan engagement measures, including size and growth of fan base and ticket sales through partner programming and in-market activations.
  • Exceeding pre-season KPI goals across a variety of categories, including, but not limited to, brand recognition and public perception from civic leaders, local community and business associations and organizations and value satisfaction amongst local and national brands and agencies.
  • Direct and indirect contribution to key revenue lines and delivery of the overall business plan.
What you will bring
  • 5+ years of corporate partnership development and activation experience, with an emphasis on selling large, multi-faceted partnership agreements in the sports and entertainment landscape.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to develop key relationships with executive-level decision-makers, understanding their unique business needs and leveraging available resources to pitch, sign and execute revenue-generating partnerships.
  • Expertise in strategic partnership prospecting, ideation, selling and activation, including, but not limited to, asset creation and management, structuring fully integrated marketing partnerships, closing high-revenue deals and retaining existing brand partners.
  • Knowledge of Los Angeles-area business community, with an existing network of key local and national contacts and influencers preferred (client direct, brand-side and agencies).
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Deep strategic understanding and experience activating partnerships that drive direct value for brand partners, ultimately leading to a high retention of partnerships.
  • Direct involvement and stewardship of allocated budgets and other resources, maximizing value across all activities.
  • Continuous studying of the sports marketing and media landscape, including trends and opportunities in a variety of marketing disciplines such as digital and social media, fan-centric technology and partnership valuation tools.
  • Implementation of a departmental strategic plan that ladders up to an organization’s overall business plan while adhering to the cascading down overall goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge and ability to think strategically about client/brand goals and objectives, and the capability to craft marketing solutions that generate revenue through a partnerships first approach.
  • Ability to work well with multiple stakeholders across the team and league, as well as with corporate and community partners and other third-party entities (agencies and vendors).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including stakeholder/relationship management, contractual agreements and a strong presence.
  • A self-starter, energetic, resilient, enthusiastic, and the determination and entrepreneurial spirit to ensure that deliverables, timelines and objectives are achieved.
  • Exceptional communications (verbal and written), sales/promotions and customer service skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
