About the XFL
The new XFL will reimagine football for the 21st century when it kicks off in early 2020. Delivering authentic, high-energy football for the whole family at an affordable price, the XFL will offer fast-paced games with fewer play stoppages and simpler rules. The league will launch with eight teams in markets across the country, 45-man active rosters and a 10-week regular season schedule with a postseason consisting of two semifinal playoff games and a championship game. The XFL is a single entity that owns the league and all teams, employing professionals at the Stamford, CT headquarters as well as in each of the markets that the teams call home.

About the Role
The Houston Roughnecks are seeking a Manager, Facility & GameDay Events that will play an integral role in helping to manage team business operations, team and fan engagement, facility and gameday operations, event logistics, and fan experience planning year-around. This Manager will assist with business/gameday reports and periodic summaries to team/league leadership. The Manager also will serve as a significant player in the team’s business/gameday operations and the business team’s relations with the football operations staff. This position will report directly to the Director, Business Operations for the Houston Roughnecks. 

What you will do
  • Report directly to the Director, Business Operations to develop and implement strategies to manage business operations, logistics, facility/gameday operations and event operations through research, best practices, account management and analytics
  • Participate and contribute to weekly team meetings, assist with operational budgets, conduct weekly meetings with interns and conduct periodic reviews of overall operations process
  • Provide weekly progress reports with identifiable metrics and benchmarks
  • Assist Dir., Bus. Ops with business operations reports and budget forecasts, cost center reports, and expense and revenue analysis
  • Ensure team business transactions, logistics, vendor management and gameday operations are consistent with league standards and policies
  • Act as event manager on game nights and gameday live programming for all home games
  • Manage operational logistics for game inventory used for corporate partnerships, marketing, community and group ticket sales 
  • Create, develop and update game scripts and logs to properly activate all sales, marketing and game presentation goals
  • Manage operational logistics related to gameday talent including in-game host, PA Announcer, DJ, pre-game and halftime performers, and stats crew
  • Support activation of group ticket sales fan experiences
  • Oversee inventory of all props and storage
  • Assist Dir., Bus. Ops. in coordination with football operations on team needs and game logistics
  • Interface with Dir., Bus. Ops. and XFL to meet gameday entertainment procedures and requirements
  • Develop and implement all production needs related to team special events, including but not limited to, budgeting, run of show, production timelines, event logistics, staffing development, security and credentials and any other necessary services
  • Track and maintain event operational expense budgets
  • Interface with corporate partnership staff to create, activate and fulfill partner-related opportunities and event elements
  • Other duties as assigned 

What you will bring
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • At least 5 years of relevant business operations and gameday operations experience.
  • Prior experience with live entertainment, pro sports or college sports is preferred
  • Product inventory purchasing and coordination experience is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong communicator with an emphasis on positive reinforcement
  • High-energy personality with an ability to motivate staff through fun and innovative leadership techniques
  • Creative mindset with a passion for generating event and entertainment concepts
  • Ability to coordinate across various departments on parallel paths for multiple goal sets
