The Washington Football Team are hiring a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for performing and managing varied accounting functions. Functions include but are not limited to general ledger account reconciliations, cash reporting and management, recording and posting entries in the financial system, preparation of sales tax and admissions & amusement tax returns, and performance of ad-hoc accounting projects as requested by management.
 
Major duties and responsibilities:
  • Prepare monthly financial closing journal entries
  • Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Assist in the management of our banking relationship
  • Prepare daily cash reporting showing our current cash position
  • Maintain an 18-month cash projection, working with other departments to obtain relevant data to ensure projections are accurate and current 
  • Initialize EFT and credit card payments as needed
  • Prepare monthly account roll forwards, balance sheet account reconciliations, and bank statement reconciliations
  • Manage the accounts receivable function, including invoicing clients according to their contracts, processing checks, and managing collections
  • Assist on the review of monthly departmental P&L statements to ensure accuracy
  • Assist in tracking of revenue and expenses related to Major Events as well as the preparation of event settlements
  • Assist in the preparation of financial schedules required for NFL reporting
  • Management of users within the T&E system as well as bi-weekly T&E reporting
  • Provide requested information to auditors, consultants, and others on audits and other matters requiring coordination
  • Compile data and prepare monthly admissions & amusement tax and sales tax returns 
  • Assist in development of new procedures and implementation of new systems to enhance the workflow of the department
  • Gameday and Event day responsibilities as needed or requested
  • Other projects as assigned
Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance is required
  • CPA or CPA candidate is a plus
  • 3+ years accounting experience
  • Prior experience should include general ledger accounting, balance sheet account reconciliation, bank reconciliations, and interaction with external auditors or participation on external audit engagements
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Familiarity with accounting/financial software
  • Knowledge Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus
  • Solid understanding of general accounting principles
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
  • Adaptability and ability to manage responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Effective communicator both verbally and in writing
  • Strong administrative and organization skills with attention to detail and follow-up required
